    M&P Pro Slide/Barrel Upgrade possible?

Seeing as the M&P is serialized on the frame only, I was wondering if it was possible to "upgrade" my Full Size M&P .40 to a Pro 5" model by simply buying the M&P Pro .40 Slide + 5" Barrel? A little bit of internet searching indicates that this shouldn't be problem, with the frames and internals being the same, and especially since I am sticking with the same caliber. Does anyone know where I can purchase the Pro Slide + Barrel?

The slide and barrel (non threaded versions) are never a controlled part. Maybe call up S&W and see if they would sell them to you.

i have an M&P 45, and an M&P45c, and can interchange the slide/barrel.

should be no different, than changing uppers on an ar platform
That may be a CG first!

S&W will sell complete upper pro slides. Give they a call.

It will work but the challenge is going to be finding a long slide available. The long slide pro models are in such short supply all of them go to building complete guns. Try S&W and also Speed Shooter Specialties or Brownells.

I have and looks like the only way to get the complete slide is from s&w, if you ever find a webside that sells some please post it here.

no luck with Speed Shooter Specialties, s&w will be only way to go.

Thanks...I will give S&W a call and see what happens. Im thinking if it is even available, will probably run close to $300 or so.

IIRC, a CGN member did something similar. Can't recall his name, however....

It will work, I am able to swap slide and barrel with my full size and 9L and vise versa.

Appreciate the confirmation. Now I just need to find out where I can buy me an M&P Pro slide/barrel.

I ordered an M&P 9L slide about a month ago directly from S&W, it arrived last week. Be aware that S&W only sells bare slides, you will need to obtain every part to assemble the upper end including the striker channel liner. Price for the 9L slide was just under $200 shipped.

A few years ago another user did this project. From what I remember he started with a .40S&W frame, ordered the 9L slide only from S&W, and then he ordered the rest of the parts from other places. Also, if I remember correctly it was chambered in 9mm not a .40S&W. But I don't think that's going to make a difference.

Best place for slides would probably be S&W. I doubt you'll be able to find a Pro slide though. You might be able to get a 9L slide, since those guns are discontinued.
