    CCW in Humboldt county.

I did a search for this topic but did not find one so I do apologize if it already exists somewhere.

So I've been wanting to get my CCW for a while and I had heard that our previous sheriff Gary Philip did for the most part grant them to anyone who applied and passed the basic requirements set forth by the state. Unfortunately he retired and our new Sheriff Michael Downey is less likely to give them out from what I've heard. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this guy (or his peons that I've heard do many of the interviews). If so what was your success rate and what kind of good cause reasons did they need to get your CCW. Thanks.

Start by not calling them peons. Like my county, your deputies do a good job in an area as big as some states, with backup an hour or more away. I think you should apply.

    Concealed Weapons Permit

    Permit Renewals: Cost- $82
    Monday 1:30pm - 3:30pm
    Friday 9:00am - Noon

    Modifications: Cost- $30
To add a firearm you must qualify with the firearm and call for an appointment. All other modifications are accepted at the day and time listed below, no appointment necessary. Appointments are on Mondays from 9am - Noon.

    New Permits: Cost- $195
Drop off your already filled out CCW application and your firearm qualifications. We will call you for an appointment.

We have 90 days to review all permits, new or renewal.
You need to get qualified first, and calling the SO should give you a place to go for that.
