    Objective comparison of plastic pistols???

Does anyone have a link to a comparison of 5" 9mm SAI vs S&W vs Glock? I see numerous opinions here and there but it seems a crap shoot. I know a lot of the opinions are subjective, but head to head is what I'm referring to...

I'm used to 1911s, .45s and .38 Supers, but would like to enter the 21st centrury at some time. Would buy the XDm in a heartbeat if it was legal here.

    What are your thoughts.

You can legally buy an XDM here. I have one. You can either get it through PPT from someone who already has one, or you could go through DAS or Parallax Tactical, both of which to SSE exemptions for off-roster pistols.

Lots of great information in this thread from probably the largest concentration of people who actually know what they're talking about in one place on the 'net.
Well not so great information if you're an XD fan. Some detail as to why nobody who actually might need to depend on their sidearm to save their life carries XD's.

I wouldn't choose any popular handgun (especially polymer 9mm) from reviews -- they're only useful for positives/negatives for you to verify personally at the range. A head to head comparison may not consider or weigh the factors that are important to you. The polymer field is so good in quality, price, features, and variations that choice is totally personal. Rent or borrow everything that interests you based upon reviews and then decide.

A newbie opinion -- XDs, M&Ps, and Glocks are roughly in the same category for price and performance. You really can't go wrong with whatever personal reasoning or preference that puts one gun on top.

              Glock!

Kidding rent and shoot them a bunch. It comes down to personal preference and as long as there isn't a glaring fault with the gun you'll be fine.

I wouldn't say a plastic gun is 21st century . They are cheap guns that work. I doubt any plastic gun will have the feel of a 1911.

I have both a XD & XDM Comp

Both have thousands of rounds through them without a problem and i would highly recommend a XD. Now I'm sure someone will post that there uncle buck had one that was a POS or they are the know all of guns and have broke 12 of them.

I always tell people, go to a shop and hold every weapon they have and buy what feels best to you. You are the best judge of what is right for you!

Not objective! but for me it would be M&P, Glock, then XD.

I like to use Genitron to compare the stats of different handguns. You can compare up to 3 different models side by side at a time. About as objective of a database as I could find.
