Gunsmith - Optics cut

Hi everyone.

I have a Wilson EDC X9S (I believe essentially same as SFX except some difference in grip?). It's amazing. I'd like to add an optic. Wilson does not have the capability of cutting a subcompact optic. They can cut for RMR or Aimpoint Acro but not for any subcompact optics. I have Holosun 507K Gr on other pistols and it's amazing. But Wilson can't make that cut.

It's kind of an expensive gun and so I want someone experienced making the cut if it's possible. Any recommendations? I'm in the Los Angeles Valley but I'd ship it anywhere if necessary.

The big issue with this model is the location of the mounting screw for the external extractor. There isn't much room to cut. You may have to consider using one of the dovetail plates for your optic.

Wilson says they have a template for full sized optics (RMR) but not for subcompact (RMRcc, RMSC). They do not have the ability to cut for Trijicon RMRcc or Holosun 407K/507K. I don't see why they can't custom cut. I contacted Ned Christiansen but he is not taking new orders, same as a lot of the highly respected smiths. Will O'Hara seems to be retired and I read that Brett Cifaldi is not longer smithing. I emailed him to ask.

Have you considered Nighthawk Custom's IOS? If they can do the cut on the Wilson slide, they have a plate for RMSC patterned optics.

Check with Parker Mountain Machine. They have cut 5 slides for me.
