    Which Les Baer?

Which Les Baer 1911 would you recommend as the best value for the money?

Depending on your purpose, I would choose the Premier II if you prefer Adjustable sights, and the Custom Carry (Think premier II with night sights and dehorned) if you prefer fixed night sights.

The Concept II is also excellent, just minus frontstrap checkering.

The TRS is probably the most popular for fixed sights, it'll have a solid trigger instead of a 3-hole, single side safety (instead of ambi), Checkered MSH (instead of serrated), and the main difference is the thin grip with the TRS logo (instead of fullsize standard full checkered grips)

All will come with a Kart barrel and a maximum guarantee of 3" @ 50 yards.

    Happy shopping.

P.S. There are a few naysayers on here against the Les Baers. Don't mind them. The Baer owners on here waaay out number them (Exiled Viking, carcrazysammy, IanS, SVTNate, Brian1979, Kamagong, Kruzr, Bambam-31, Beetle Bailey, Chickenfried, former G34shooter etc etc.. )

When I was deciding to have a pistol built, I looked hard at the TRS... but I wanted a carry gun... I ended up buying a Volkmann custom and have never regretted it... I have clients who have trs guns and they are flawless as far as I have seen....

What are your expectations of the gun? Range gun? Carry gun or otherwise a self defense gun? Competition?

When I got mine, I decided I wanted a carry/self defense gun, so that meant no PII and no 1.5" guarantee. So for my budget it was either the TRS or Custom Carry. They are pretty much the same so I chose the CC mainly because of the ambi safety.

my only regret is that I don't have the slim grips of the TRS for when people with small hands want to shoot my Baer.

Any Les Baer you choose will be the best value for the money. They're all basically the same in terms of quality. Which model you end up with depends on what you are looking for in your 1911.

I wanted an ambi safety (I'm a lefty), fixed night sights, dehorned for whenever (if ever) I can carry it, and a finish that would hold up to wear and tear. I ended up with:

          Hardchromed Custom Carry

          No regrets. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

I don't know you, but I love you. I have the same game towel, and a Custom Carry... something about great minds and thinking alike.

To the op: I wanted fixed sights, and dehorned. Bought a Custom Carry and is probably my favorite and go-to pistol.

I don't know what it is, but there is something that is just right with the Thunder Ranch. I so miss having one. Good thing I got a SA Pro to hold me over..

I have a Premier II and really like it. It is my first High end pistol and is great. When I get another Les Baer I will more than likely get a TRS.

I'd go with a TRS as the general do it all LB. If you want something slightly cheaper get a P2 with fixed sights though they won't have tritium inserts. Give John at Proload a call and he'll lead you in the right direction with a great price as well.

I had a TRS that I was extremely happy with. It's a good all around pistol.

I'd say mostly range gun, but also which can be used for SD.

Black Magic covered it all, and just like to add that I'm very happy with my TRS.

Go for the Premier II for a range gun since it has adjustable sights. Get the 1.5" only if you have money to burn. I shot Black Majik's PII and it was such a joy to shoot, I knew I had to get a Baer.

Any Baer you get will be a great choice. I have a Custom Carry that I bought as a carry/ SD gun. It is sooo nice. Of course like anything else, they tend to multiply. I am looking for a TRS as my next pistol purchase.

                              Good luck on your purchase.
