    Weird shooting stance.

Hey guys. I was out shooting my 1911 and Sig 226 today and I tried a random mix of a couple shooting stances. I had my body in a weaver stance but my arms I bent inward quite a bit and canted the handgun slightly as if I was shooting one handed but with two hands, my support hand index finger wrapped around the trigger guard far forward. Kinda like Costas grip I guess. And with all this I was able to fire my 1911 very fast and accurate at 25 yards. Just a weird stance I threw together and it felt comfy. I won't use this seriously but thought I'd share.

Is that your grip with two hands?

You mean like Paul Castle's CAR system? Watch "John Wick" to see what I'm talking about.

I didn't time it or anything but for me I shot faster and hit my target every time. It wasn't crazy faster than my normal stance but it was noticeable.

            Is it similar to this?

Moving while shooting and manipulating the safety is awkward and it's not accurate at longer distances. My regular stance is more versatile and useful. But I may try using it more to see if maybe it will work better. I just have to practice with it more.

That is exactly it actually. Is it a known stance I just don't know about? Lol

It's a variation of the modified Weaver. I'm searching for a video and article I read about training military units on entry. The personnel armed with M9s had that stance in stack formation. Not sure if they were elite units or part of a base response team. I'm thinking close to the body aides in retention of weapon and easier defensive moves to deflect blunt/blade attack.

I found it. It's the C.A.R stance. Sky DiveR mentioned it but I thought he was talking about a car lol. It's meant for close quarters which makes sense. I will probably adopt this for home defense training and use my regular stance for the range. Don't want to be that guy on the range with all the tacticool moves lol.

CAR system is great... I never liked shooting a pistol until I learned it. If you are near southern CA, check out Civilian Arms Training Source if you'd like to take some classes. I have trained with them many times.

There seems to be a crossover of the aggro fitness trainer and the aggro firearms trainer.

If it works for you, eat a Costco skid of Rip Fuel and brand it on Youtube.
Bot the views so you "emerge".
                            Design a clothing line.
Get a bunch of buy-in from forum shills, or just bot the responses based on light machine learning targeted as key words.
Run product releases based on most-hype SEO - least availability to keep margins high.

                            Pack and promo!

No seriously, do what works for you like Jimi Hendrix.....not the millions of people that aren't him that aren't themselves either.
