GF&OS just opened a store/range in Dublin this year. I wanted to go support them but I keep reading negative posts about their CS. a friend just bought a pistol from them and he had no complaints. i hope someone from their corporate office regularly visits calguns, maybe it will change their service level for the better, or maybe not.

Of course their house, their rules so you're going home anyway.

But if they can't provide specifics, then you're fully justified for calling them ignorant a&&holes on your way out.

Today my 10 day waiting period was up for my AK47 Krinkov m92 pistol. After I picked it up I went to the range. After putting 40 rounds through it I was approached by the range employees. I was than kicked off the range & told that the AK47 pistol is ILLEGAL in the state of CA.

I got this gun legally. It is in my name. Has a Ca. bullet button & a 10 round mag. Am I missing something here? Is this guy wrong & dont know his info? I am new to this state so I need some help please & thank you.

There Dublin store has signs that say "shoot your AR and AK pistols here" "AR 15 and AK 47 welcome", somewhere along the line.

I think OP is referring to the Dublin store which is just "celebrating" its one year anniversary, so you might be thinking of their Vacaville shop with a reference to a three year old CS perspective.

I got a bit turned off to them shortly after they opened in Dublin.

First visual impression was awesome shop, amazing long gun selection/inventory and a growing handgun inventory. Range wasn't yet opened, so pricing wasn't set.

I saw their pricing was a bit high, but not unacceptable considering the size of the store, number of employees there at any given time as well as overall selection.

I tried to buy a used rifle. Asked if it was PPT (no tax) or truly consignment (tax). Counter rep called over the manager and he declared PPT and when I specifically mentioned tax, he said there would be no tax. Great. Go to do the purchase and the counter clerk handling the transaction (not the one who initially verified with the mgr PPT/consignment) rings it up with tax (which added over $100 to the cost). I told him mgr said it was PPT and no tax. He went and checked and when he came back he said there would be tax. Wow, quick flip flop. When I said the mgr said PPT and no tax, he said that was now not the case. That was a deal breaker on price/value for me, so I walked away. Left a bad taste.

Before the indoor range opened up, they said the pricing would be similar to the Vacaville store. Turns out it actually worked out to be significantly higher for primary/secondary shooter. Bummer, but understandable considering the higher rent and such. Wasn't so happy with the brass policy that you can't pick up your own brass. I can understand not picking up anyone else's, but not your own? Again, their house, their rules. So, since it's my wallet and my money, I spend it elsewhere. A LGS of their size and overhead costs with rent and payroll won't be in business long term if they don't bring in repeat business from locals.

I see a lot of people talking trash about this place and for good reason..in the past. I have been to the Dublin store many times to shoot, browse, and buy stuff. Over time, this place has gotten much better at customer service and the range staff is friendly as well. I even just bought a CZ tac sport about a month ago. The buying process was easy and the guy helping me was very good. After the purchase, they had a 10% sale on fire arms and took care of me. I am a happy customer.

Their record of treating people badly and poor business practices as well documented here. I would not advocated anybody shop there. Unless of course you like being treated badly and overcharged.

I shoot at their range often as it is convenient and a nice place to shoot in the summer. The guys that work the range are nice, kind, respectful, enthusiasts like us.

I bought a used gun from GFOS Dublin fairly recently. They wouldn't let me, and they weren't willing to field strip it so i could see the internals. The "gun department manager" was obviously the one who was not being very customer friendly. The employees who I dealt with first hand seemed very nice but couldn't help me because orders were coming from their boss. There was no liability in this issue as it was not consignment, he was just making sure that GFOS maintains their reputation for bad customer service. And he's doing a pretty good job.

In a nutshell, i would rather deal with other LGS's in the area. But I would rather deal with GFOS than Dicks in Dublin. There is a real, should we say, dick at Dicks that is in charge of their firearms department but thats not relevant to this thread.

I will continue to go to their range, and if they have something I really want that other LGS don't have and cannot get (such as a nice used whatever), I will still buy as of right now. If another LGS has it though, thats where my business is going. J&R Sports in Livermore is run and staffed by a bunch of really great people. Thats always my first stop locally.
