Traveling cross country to the Midwest - Carry in states that allow it?

So I don't have my CCW in California yet. But I have a big road trip (I will take a few times) to the MidWest. Would it make sense to lock up my gun in trunk as I leave CA and go through NV. But once I hit UT, WY, SD, and IA I could take it out and conceal carry it?

Obviously I'd have to be very careful of state lines and make sure I don't accidentally carry into CO or NE. Has anyone done this where they carry in "free" states and then lock it up in other states? Or does that sounds like a pain in the ***?

It was just weird standing out at 1am getting gas in Wyoming. Though I didn't worry too much. The scary state was CA at 1am.....a LOT of shady stuff around.

Seems like a pain. Why not get you AZ CCW and you can carry in most states, including NV with no issue. Also, NV allows for OC.

In CO, if you’re driving through, you can CC in your vehicle, and OC is allowed.

But alas, why does TheNinja need a CCW? He’s like the wind

Shows how much I know . I didn't know non-residents of AZ can get an AZ CCW. I'm going to look into that! Though 99% of my life is spent in CA it would be nice to have some peace of mind when traveling in remote areas or at night at gas stations and stuff.

I mean...the CCW isn't for me. As a ninja, I can go undetected, then pop up and throw a caltrop in your face before you know what happened!

Arizona and Utah non-resident CCW. Contact them on-line, I think you can get specific instructions on how to obtain licenses. Each good for 5 years, renewal by mail (I just sent in my Utah renewal today - $25.00). You don't need a California CCW for these.

I was in Utah a couple weeks ago chatting with a Highway Patrolman.
He's a gun guy, I mentioned how I can't get a CCW in my area in CA and how nice it is to visit Free America.
He smiled and said that I didn't need a permit to carry in Utah.
I told him that I had a .380 in my truck, he said I should put it in my pocket.

No CCW permit required in Utah as of 2021, but you can get one if you want.

AZ can be done completely by mail and is easy to obtain. No "training" is required if you have a DD214, which suffices as training. I've had my AZ permit long than my CA.

Depending on which county you live in, you should be able to get your CA permit relatively quickly. In any case, after Bruen, you should apply here anyway.
