It's a fair amount of money to cut an existing slide, add suppressor sights, pay for shipping, etc. At some point I would rather spend a little more money and get a whole new gun. YMMV of course.
Dueck Defense makes a red dot mount that fits in your existing dovetail (just like any aftermarket sight) and includes the back up front and rear sight. They are local to boot. I've got one on order. https://dueckdefense.com/shop/firear...up-sight-base/

No disrespect, but this line of thinking saddens me. I'd approach it the other way around: If your CCW doesn't explicitly provide directions to the contrary, then do what you want. But asking big brother for an "opinion" when there is nothing on the books, is the same as asking permission...and I'll be damned if I'm going to start asking for permission to use a flashlight or a red dot sight.

Let me try to explain my perspective another way: Government bureaucracy is--for the most part--a big, blind, self-justifying organism. If you ask for permission a bureaucrat will almost always default to the safest (for them), most conservative position that they believe (1) exposes them to the least liability, and (2) regulates your actions because--in their opinion--you are not smart enough to regulate them yourself. It's much easier and safer for a bureaucrat to say "no", especially when it's to someone such as yourself (pro-gun) who is already marginalized in the eyes of the establishment.

I know I might sound extreme to some, but here in California we've already seen that the slippery slope is a reality. Every chance the ruling powers get to undermine your 2A rights will be taken, and once taken you are unlikely to get them back.

Please hold on to what little freedom you have left.

Why would the gun have to be on the roster? I haven't been following all of the details, has there been some changes to PPT?

Me too! Love that gun! But, I wouldn't use that gun as a ccw and honestly, can't imagine trying to draw from concealed with a red dot mounted. Interesting idea.

We all know you can get off roster pistols via PPT. He is talking about buying an RMR equipped pistol from the factory, as suggested by another poster. Unless you are LEO it can't be done for off roster RMR equipped pistols. I don't know how many factory RMR pistols are on roster but I bet it's few and far between.

Bad advice in my opinion. If you don't carry within the standards of your I.A. your CCW permit will get revoked. Their is also the possibility of legal liability if the weapon is used in a self defense situation. It's far better to stay within the standards of our issuing authorities and retain our ability to carry. It's not asking for permission. It's asking for clarification on restrictions. If mods are restricted in any way they will have something, somewhere in writing already. It won't be a snap decision that some LEO makes up on the spot.

Better to clarify a situation with your I.A. than to open yourself up to legal or statutory issues.
