Legally purchased off-roster guns - Can they be CCW? FAQ: up to issuing agency

I have recently legally purchased a Glock 43 and was planning to use that as one of the guns on my CCW. Now I've heard that this gun will likely not be OK for CCW because it is not in the approved list.

    Have I messed up?

It depends on your issuing agency.

Answer will vary dependent upon the issuing agency.

I do not know what Corona PD or Riverside County SD policy is on this issue.

My issuing agency (San Bernardino County SD) allows off-Roster handguns as long as everything matches (make, model, caliber, serial number) what is listed in CLETS-AFS.

Off roster was ok in Orange County so long as it's stock.

I can confirm this as, two out of my three OCSD approved CCW pistols are off-roster and the third will be shortly.

The officer who interviewed me asked me about my g43 "did you buy from an officer?"

Nothing else. I guess it is ok.

I listed 3 guns on my application
          Gen4 Glock 19
          Glock 43
          HK P30sk

None of them is on the roster. Haha

Anyway, I passed the interview and waiting for liverscan

Nice! It only makes sense considering guns keep falling off the roster and many guns existed before there was a roster.

                Thanks for the update!

If you are applying through Riverside county, you are good to go.

I am in process for OC on my initial CCW, waiting on livescan and have a M&P9C on my list. Only question I was asked was where I purchased. I stated private party. All he said was "nice".

I believe the only issue I heard with off roster guns was people with CCW's (usually from OC or Ventura) driving through LA, getting pulled over or something, and LA police were taking away off roster guns from people. I don't have any articles to back this up, I had just read it somewhere on the net.
