Pick up went well for my husband and I. There were four others there picking up today as well. Did not see anyone that appeared to be tere for an initial interview.
Process goes pretty quickly. They do keep your original training certificate. Although they did make us a copy to keep.
Cannot stress enough to have balance due in exact change if you are paying cash. They will not make change what so ever. Watched several people ahead of us have issues with this. You can also pay by check.
After paying they have you sign CCW, thumbprint and then they type all your info onto card and laminate it. Quick and painless once you actually get the call after months of waiting (our initial interview was 5/30).
Must say it is highly dissapointing what it actually looks like. It is not a standard wallet sized card. It is laminated but not like a proper id. More like you buy your own laminator from Harbor Freight. I have CCW cards from a total of three states (Utah, Oregon and CA) and to be quiet honest the CA one looks amateurish and considering it was the most expensive of the three it would do them well to step up their game in that department. Just my opinion.
Good luck to all those waiting.

Also I would feel remiss in not sharing to those currently mid stream in this process. My husband and I highly recommend Weapons Training School (http://www.weaponstrainingschool.com/). John & Tami Popke are fantastic. Highly informative and they made the class actually fun to take. They also provide the Utah CCW class as well. My husband and I have taken multiple classes from them over the last few years. Highly recommend them to anyone still trying to decide where to take their course.Comment

Just had my first contact since 6/18 interview. Investigator called to verify some prior citations and police contacts. All went well, very nice investigator. Investigator said probably a couple of weeks for a final decision. They said they already have my employers firearms policy on file but wanted the name & number of a supervisor to contact for verification. I feel as if the end of this long process is near.

I assume that they are requesting to contact your employer because their policy is "yes", you can CCW at work and they want verbal confirmation?Just had my first contact since 6/18 interview. Interesting. I find that to be unacceptable and an invasion of privacy. If you are not requesting to carry at work, your employer should not be involved in the process of approval. Sounds like your okay with this and are confident about your relationship with your boss which is good. However, if you worked for a company or boss that was anti-gun, them knowing that you are applying for a CCW could hurt someone's standing with their employer.
I believe its Monterey County that has a very intrusive CCW background check process which includes talking to neighbors and employers as a way to judge GMC. I feel strongly that this is absolutely unacceptable and needs to be challenged in court.
Your investigator wanting to contact your employer even though you have made it clear that you will not carry at work is setting a very bad precedent for San Joaquin County.Comment
