Application submitted 3-9-2017
Scheduled interview 11-3-2017

Can anyone tell me how early you have to submit for renewal? And what all is included in the process?

SkySwin, just did my renewal today. Renewal is within 90 days prior to expiring your CCW. Not one day early.

1. Call SBCS to schedule your class.
2. Prepare your renewal application together with USPS Money Order.
3. Statement of Good Cause. (they no longer accept :self defense/self protection. You need a "statement".
4. Submit your renewal application in person. (in and Out in less than 30 mins)

I'm pretty excited, got my range date too for July 22nd. Now I have the tough choice of purchasing a 3rd gun to put on my permit.

Just did my interview. Went very smooth. The detective said the wait for the range can be as long as 6 months from now but may e sooner. They are trying to process everyone very fast. Make sure you have carefully read the instructions and have what they ask. Another guy there didn't have all the necessary paperwork, didn't make copies and they told him to leave and come back when he gets his stuff together.

Well I'm was in the military, so I spoke about how the FBI announced that Isis was calling on its supporters to carry out attacks on military members as well as civilians. Spoke about ab109 and gave statistics of how crime has risen on my area. There are so many incidents that you can speak about, San B, Colorado, Florida, Ohio state and so forth. I was recently at a conference where Assistant Sheriff Higgins and the San Bernardino police Chief both said they are for their citizens getting ccw's as long as they met the requirements. Trust me, they want you to get one.

You also should state that something along the lines of you are you are afraid to be a victim of a violent crime that would lead to death or serious injury which could be prevented if you are lawfully armed.

I already have my ccw. I just heard from someone that renewed that they are not taking personal protection anymore.

Well that's a half truth. They are accepting SD as GC. The thing is that they don't want you to just put down SD. They want you to expand on what SD means and why you feel like you need to defend yourself.

And, from what I've read this has been the SOP for some time.

My GC statement was only slightly more than SD... I put it into a sentence, but really no more actual content.
I *could* have gone a paragraph, will when I renew, and went into some specifics in class when we shared our reasons for applying.
