I currently reside under LA County but is planning to relocate and buy a house in SB County...My question is, do they still send a letter to our current jobs? I ask because at my current job, HR are very cautious and will not get involve in anything not related to work due to liability issues.

They do send a letter to your current employer.

You also need to be a resident of San Bernardino county for one year. You'll need to provide proof. Either a tax bill or signed lease agreement.

I'm moving into Chino Hills today/tomorrow. It's SB county which always struck me as odd since it's closer to LA and Riverside County. Anyways, is there a minimum residency period that I must reach before applying? Also, my lease is only 11 months, so I'll likely be back in LA county next year. Should I be issued a permit, would the permit then be invalid when I move back to LA County?

Pretty sure like others said you have to be res for a year before applying, it sounds like you'll have to wait til you are gonna be settled somewhere for awhile. AFAIK Changing counties also you have to give the ltc up within a specific time, and then probably reapply wherever your gonna move to. Moving counties a lot is gonna make things a lot more difficult.

I think you will have trouble getting it. Unless something changed in the last few weeks, it's a one year minimum past residency. You also need to show proof that you'll stay there. You also have so surrender the card when moving out of the county.

As others have said, you have to have already lived here for one year. If you're a renter they will also want to see a lease that shows you have a minimum amount of time left. I think it's 8 months but not sure.

                      The Livescan costs are interesting.

I used to to sub work for a school district, and they require a Livescan as well. However, the cost was $59, so why the extra cost for the sheriff office to do it?

Interview was fairly short. 15-20 minutes maybe. Mostly just went over the application and verbally answered the questions again, and/or added some detail that wasn't already there. Also had to fill out an additional sheet that seemed to duplicate most of the original application.

Don't sweat the interview. Very easy going.

Interview - went like a friendly job interview, for a job your well qualified for.

They'll go through your application page by page. Ask you questions about what you put down in the application. The Detective will talk to you to get a feel about your character. Bring any supportive documentation for stuff they may have questions for.

Little more than 30 minutes for me, they had to go back to their desk to re-run a quick background report on me for the interview. She swapped my middle and last name on background report before the interview. Then she took a few minutes to review the newly printed report (I didn't see what kind of info was printed). I have a squeaky clean background.
