So we'll go to the HQ and take the current 4-hour renewal class, and either before or after, we'll have to pick up a range card and requalify.
That's going to significantly increase the workload at Devore, since the current renewals only shoot when making a change to a listed gun.
Wishful thinking was that it meant that if not done at the time of the original qualification. But re-reading it, looks like we will be wasting ammo again. Might as well change up my carry choice and pick up a G30 to replace my G21. But honey, I gotta re-qualify, so..........

My CCW instructor said specifically "Please do not disable any factory safeties", so IMHO, disabling the magazine disconnect would be a no-go. Disabling a 1911 grip safety or removing a Shield thumb safety would absolutely be a no-go.

He also strongly recommended that any modifications be done by a licensed gunsmith. We're not talking about routine cleaning and spring replacement... those are wear parts and we should all have the skill to do that. But when a hard part is changed, a smith will know if fitting is required or not. I ended up with a non-functional grip safety on my RIA 1911 when I changed to an arched MSH. Parts that appear to be drop-in may not be.

        BUT....
        It's on us.
We, or rather, our attorneys, are going to be who has to explain to a jury why we have an image of the "Punisher" vigilante on our grips, and why we shot the bad guy with Hornady Super-Splatter Zombie-Killer ammo.
We must have been LOOKING for someone to shoot.

Modifications are not going to turn a good shoot into a bad shoot, or turn a bad shoot into a good shoot.
If a modification resulted in an accidental discharge, that's a bad shoot.
If it's a good shoot, your attorney saying "my client intended to shoot" removes any hair-trigger argument.
        Pretty clean in criminal court.

        Civil court is the problem.

As far as modifications and inspection, if you don't believe that a Deputy will pass your modifications on inspection, then it's probably not a good idea to make that modification.
Thanks for clarifying. I was reading your earlier post and thought once they inspected it no other modifications can be done. I want to get a carry package done for my cz 2075 Remi but can't afford it at this time.

I am intentionally being noncommittal on a straight answer for that because I don't work for the SD and can not speak for the deputies doing inspections.
I have never been told that changes can not be made after inspection.

It’s just 3 guns allowed on the permit in San Berdoo correct?

So, if your employer has received your employment verification from SBSD, does that usually mean that you have passed background?

No. It's just a part of the background check.

                      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

                        CCW Class

I had my renewal class yesterday at the Rancho Cucamonga Civic Center. There were over 200 attendees. Dep. Mason kept the class engaged and participation was good.

I realized something unexpected once the questions started coming out. This group of gun owners and gun carriers was essentially clueless about the new laws (Prop 63).

                        Questions like:

"Can I still buy ammo online?"
"Can I still buy an AR?"
"How do I register a Ghost Gun?"
"Do I have to register my AR?"
"I can still have my gun on a school campus, right?"

and on, and on, and on....

Haven't any of these people ever heard of Calguns? Do they live in a vacuum? Remember, this isn't a group of first time gun-owners. This group has from 2 to more than 20 years of carrying experience. How are they so clueless? Maybe my expectations are too high but as I gun owner I damn sure know what I can/can't or should/shouldn't do with my firearm(s). This site is an invaluable resource. I just wonder how come more "good guys with guns" don't use or know about it.

                          Nope.
The membership numbers here are misleading.
40,000+ registered members... well over 20,000 have not made a single post, and fewer than 10,000 have made more than 5.

There are over 8,000 permits in SBC, and I'm pretty sure the 10,000 posters on Calguns aren't only from SBC.

Honestly? Yes. The vast majority of gun owners get their information from the FFL and maybe one or two instructors.
Most do not seek training, even among those with CCW permits.

My parents are God-fearing law abiding people and would never intentionally break the law (Mom is 88 and has received ONE speeding ticket, Dad is 95 and has never been cited for anything).
Had I not had an 03FFL, Mom would have been more than willing to commit a Federal felony and give me grandpa's old Colt 1903 .32
I honestly do not know what happened to our rifles, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they most likely went to relatives in Texas.

I just wonder how come more "good guys with guns" don't use or know about it.
Most people learn exactly what they believe that they NEED to learn and nothing more. That is why we have renewal classes every 2 years, to continue to pound in the information that has most likely been forgotten.

LOL. I have had TWO LEO's (both are good friends and strong 2A supporters) who gave me horribly inaccurate information about guns, magazines and CCW. The lack of knowledge among ALL gun owners is epidemic.
