Some clarification. If you sell it, you don?t possess it. If you don?t possess it, you can?t carry it. It doesn?t matter to you or the IA if it?s on the license. The licensee doesn?t have the gun.

The IA sends mods to the AG for recordation of the license info. All a mod will due is remove the authorization for the licensee to carry the gun they no longer possess.

When the sale clears DROS, the ownership change is recorded in the Registry from the seller to the new owner, so if something happens with the gun, the new owner gets the call. With the recordation of ownership in the registry, the new owner can put it on their license.

Okay if your going to linger on one word, they "don't" want a firearm on a permit if you are "not" the owner.

    Maybe that clears it up?

Or email them and post the reply so we all know? Maybe the previous email that was posted is outdated?

Well said. I wrote the DOJ Firearms to get list of guns they had under my name. There were maybe 15 guns from years ago and I wrote that I didn't own them, A girl named Cheryl asked who did and I said, "God only knows, I've been buying and selling guns since 1964". She acted like I owed her names and addresses but wouldn,t outright say it.

Hello, what renewal class did you use for OC ? I?m looking to NOT do those stupid tests online, do physical classroom providers do these tests, or do you just listen for 4 hours ? any help would be appreciated

FAST OC although location may help with suggesting more local trainers.

Artemis in Lake Forest. Weekend renewal classes take two days, in my experience.

On Target Range. Four hours. All trainers I've been to give tests. Theirs is MC, about 30 questions. They streamlined their process to make it less wait time. You send them a list of the guns you want on your license a week before the class (Make, model, S/N, color, barrel length) so they have the training cert all made out when you show up. Just shoot, confirm S/N, sit in the class, sign the cert. Done.

Are the licenses still being mailed? And when renewing, do you select pay at the counter or pay online?

Are they still calling to get billing information and then mailing the permits, or is it back to picking them up in person?

I just got my permit amended and they called yesterday for billing information. They said that it will arrive in 3-5 business days.

My renewal followed a similar time frame. Received about 6 weeks early. Added two guns and dropped two. What I didn't know until I asked today is I cannot carry the two new additions until the issue date which is 9/18/23. Glad I asked.
