I thought it was almost impossible for regular civilians to get ccw in orange county.

The Orange County sheriff loosened requirements Wednesday for obtaining a concealed-weapons permit in light of a recent federal appellate court decision that deemed many urban counties in Californi…

I had my CCW submission appt last Thurs 2/13 @ 11:30am, came back from that appointment & saw the Peruta decision all over the news. I'm hoping that my app will get approved easier due to this, even though I did have a good cause statement that wasn't "self defense"

Didn't OCSD used to require letters if reference? I didn't see that listed on their page this time

          Finally!

Anyone know of who is offering an OC Sheriff approved CCW training class this weekend?

If you need a permit to do it, it is not a right, it's a privilege.

This isn't a slam dunk. Things could change and you would be out of your money. Also, I'm not sure how recent they want the course. Appointments are already a few months out.

True, I guess the prudent thing is to wait for the preliminary approval of your permit before spending the money on the class.

You will not need to take the course for MONTHS after you file the paper work.

They will give you a list of approved courses when they are ready.

That will be at least several months.

I'm kind of curious : If you get the permit and then the court changes it's mind and the Sheriff revokes your permit will that revocation be a strike against you for a future application ?

No, it wouldn't something of your doing.

Believe it or not, things are changing by the hour. As of today, OCSD is following SD and Sacto. Not saying they will approve before 3/6/14(due to 9CA final decision), but according to OCSD you DO NOT NEED GOOD CAUSE to be granted a CCW. Self/family defense is good enough! :-))

They haven't required them for about four years.

Since self defense can be consider cause for ccw issue, effectively what is the diierence between the OC process and shall issue?

                            Weapon list on OC LTC

Can a husband and wife both list the same handgun(s) on both of their ccw applications for Orange County?
Basically, share a handgun for ccw permit.

I think OC still does an interview and good moral character is required. Shall issue doesn't, I think.

I sent my email request for an appointment on Sunday Feb 23 and did not receive any response today. Nobody answered the phones at the two CCW phone numbers given and both mailboxes were full.

Anyone get any CCW Appointments today?
