It's crazy that you can get a CCW in other counties within 60 to 90 days. I've been waiting 13 months just for a call for an interview.... doh!
          7/18/22 - Mailed Application
          10/14/22 - Money Order Cashed
2/6/24 - Call from CCW Unit to obtain email. Email received and documents sent
          3/20/24 - Interview by phone
5/15/24 - Received 'Proceed To Training' Email
          5/15/24 - Sent training documents
          8/13/24 - picked up CCW - FINALLY!!!

Got my call today, 415 days since I mailed application (6/25/22)
Did the interview over the phone as the officer stated they are doing for people with no criminal background.
Call came from the desk number of the CCW Unit 1-213-541-2048
Officer stated to expect 3-5 months for proceed to training email.
He basically asked all the questions on the application with a few other related ones.
When he asked the "Have you ever used an illegal drug or substance?" question I replied "I tried Marijuana in High school" He quickly replied "Marijuana doesn't count, any others?" So for the record they don't seemed bothered by past MJ use at all.

Got a call today from a 213 number. I completed a phone interview that took around 15 minutes. The deputy stated (as mentioned in the above comment) that they are offering phone interviews for those with no criminal history. He stated I should get a PTT email within 3-5 months, though he said it should be closer to 3 months for me since I have no criminal history. I changed my ccw firearms with him on the phone and provided serial numbers. I received an email shortly after my phone call requesting documents such as drivers license, birth certificate/passport, utility bill, and livescan doc. I mailed in my original ccw application in June 2022.

Just picked up my CCW from the LA sheriffs department headquarters. I asked how many get processed daily and the sheriff told me about 40 per day get issued and they do not issue every single day though.

Update. Got called today from a 213 number, ask if I could do a quick phone interview. Went smoothly, told me to go ahead and start my Livescan and submit my documents. Said about 4 months before PTT should come in due to backlog. Finally some movement after over a year of waiting for the interview call. Glad it could be done over the phone since that speeds things up.

Just wanted to add my experience as I finally got the call to pick up yesterday & don't have a squeaky clean record.
7/4/22 - Submitted App Temple City Station
                          Feb 23 - Took 8hr training
4/27/23 - Recieved call for in person interview
5/3/23 - Interview (Submitted all docs including 8hr training cert & 3 gun qual cert)
                          5/5/23 - Completed live scan
8/16/23 - Recieved call to pick up
8/30/23 - Scheduled pick up date

As you can see, I took it upon myself to get the training out of the way before the interview knowing it is good for 1 year. Not knowing when I would recieve a call, I waited at least 6 months after submitting my app. I think it may have sped up the last part by a month or two but that is just speculation. I went through Medic Up for training & also got the AZ non resident CCW (good in 30 states) which was mailed to me within 12 weeks after the class. So much faster than our slow process. As far as my record goes, I recieved a juvenile ticket around 15 years ago for weed which I did not mention on my app. But I mentioned at the last part of my interview & the deputy had it highlighted in her paper work. She was definitely trying to see if I would mention that incident & being truthful may have been a deciding factor. I also got a wet reckless in 2019. Even though it is expunged, obviously they will still see it. She mentioned to me that a "DUI is no big deal"... then went back on the statement, lol ... but explained that many people have them and it is not a deciding factor. All in all it went good just took way too long but I'm glad it is over!

Just wanted to let everyone know that it is recommended that you disclose everything. I had a speeding violation 20+ years ago and received an email from LASD about why it wasn’t mentioned during my interview or disclosed on the application. I gave them a summary of what happened and let them know that I didn’t think it was necessary to mention since the CCW application only asks to list traffic violations that occurred within the last 5 years.

Looks like not disclosing that further delayed my application.

2/6/22 - LASD received application via USPS certified mail
                            11/29/22 - Interviewed
5/6/23 - PTT - Sent in my forms (completed training in 11/2022)
7/27/23 - Received email regarding aforementioned traffic violation (12 weeks since PTT)
Still waiting for my pick-up call after 15 weeks from PTT

Asked for an update on 8/15 and got the standard email that my app is pending final review and that the minimum wait time is 6 weeks!!!!

Yeah, I agree that?s interesting. I disclosed things from 20 years ago because it was similar to an elevated situation they mentioned but I definitely did not discuss minor infractions and they definitely did not ask for them. I would’ve been happy to volunteer them but they just asked for anything major.
