            I'm the kind of guy for that job, but no estimates or projections based on the past up to this month will be worth anything until we see the BRUEN decision and AV's reaction to it. I think we can confidently predict that the current 1 year wait will get worse and this will be exacerbated further when significant numbers of the early L.A. permits come up for renewal.

            For anyone interested, here is a link to a post I made analyzing the capacity and renewal issues in San Diego.

            I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

            The more time I spend on this forum, the more sense kcbrown makes.

              I remember AV was talking about going online and maybe using Permitium system, which could streamline the clerical/evidence stuff for the LASD

                He did, but I think Pentium makes a marginal difference in the overall workload. I think by far the greatest factor in the delays is the availability of deputy time to conduct interviews and higher level deputy time to review the applications and work of the lower level deputies.

                Assuming BRUEN eliminates GC, there will be some Sheriff's who accept the idea that their role in issuing is now essentially administrative/ministerial and for those the vast majority of interviews will be unnecessary, except in cases of applicants with some significant arrest history. That will speed things up considerably. There is nothing in state law that requires interviews at all let alone in-person interviews. The function could be handled much like the DMV. Other Sheriffs will continue to try to exert as much control as possible over who they think should or should not get a permit and will continue to interview everybody looking for reasons to deny permits other than GC.

                  Judging from AV's general attitude towards shall issue, this will likely be the case. I doubt he would drop the interview process which would in theory speed things up.

                  There is a possibility for Young v Hawaii to be GVR'D following the Bruen decision, which may result in open carry becoming legal once again in CA. At least we'd get some form of carry while waiting for our CCW's.

                    Good point. Let's hope that 21st or 23rd will give us some results

                      Some information I got from my interviewing deputy;
                      - Approx 90 days from the point the livescan is done for everything to clear. If you don't hear anything from them during the 90 days don't email them until after 90 days have passed.
                      Sounds like you and I had the same interviewer or at least they are singing the same song...

                      Good luck.

                        Very very similar business reason as my good cause. Interviewer said I would be approved, just needed to clear background check and of course training. They didn't give any care about recreational activities.. only business related. I showed each item I carry on the job site (cameras, lenses, laptop, etc.. printed out with retail value of each item along with receipts for each item). I also showed examples of work for probably 30 projects in and around Los Angeles as well as CA and other states where a CCW would be accepted that I do work (Arizona, Florida, Utah, etc). I did my livescan same day as instructed. Waiting on the call or email to proceed to training.

                          That's what I figured. The female deputy at Monterey Park is very organized and follows up with the applicants assigned to her. After my interview I was asked if I had already done my livescan, which at that instant I regretted not having done it before my intervew. When I told my deputy I hadn't, he handed me the livescan form. The firearms portion of my livescan ended up taking 10 weeks to complete. I feel that I would have had my CCW a month ago had I completed the livescan before coming in for interview. Just speculation on my part.

                          Onto a different topic. I just don't think the NY vs Bruen case will result in "shall issue" for all States. I'm guessing the verdict will be to let local government determine what is considered a "sensitive place", like Times Square. California being the way it is will just say the entire State is considered a sensitive place or something silly like that. So I'm not putting all my eggs in the SCOTUS basket.

                            LASD does not release numbers on number approved vs declined, but the best I can tell, it looks like they are approving around 20% and declining around 80%.

                                That has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. Please start a new thread on that subject.
