I haven't posted in this thread for a while, but here goes:

• Mods: please change the title of this thread to add "time to apply"
• I'm happy so many people are applying and getting issued
• I'm happy that I don't see any more posts about people claiming (falsely) that LA "never" issues or it's "impossible" or you need to be a VIP or have death threats. That was all true before, it's all not true now.
• Vote for Sheriff AV! He is great not just in CCWs, but in bring some sanity to homeless issues, in supporting a recall of LA's heartless DA, and just generally being the only sane elected official in Los Angeles

Sheriff AV is his own man and defies categorization. I know he ran as a progressive Democrat and maybe he is a progressive Democrat but he makes his own decisions that don't fall into easy categories. Whatever he is, he has earned our solid support.

And thanks to Paladin for putting in so much on-line effort in encouraging people to apply and monitoring developments and providing updates. This is the form of on-line activism that makes a difference.

Take a look at the CCW map and see how it has changed dramatically over the past ten years. Not as a result of court cases, but as a result of activism and a few key elections, including AV.

At present there are only six counties that are difficult or impossible for ordinary people to get CCWs: Santa Barba, SF, Marin, Santa Clara, Yolo and San Mateo. Those represent 4,496,209 people, or 11% of California's population.

I won't use "shall issue" to apply to California because that's a statute, but in practice, 89% of Californians have reasonably good access to CCWs and can get if they put in the effort to make a strong application.

And even within the 11% of Californians who are in light red counties (Santa Barbara, Yolo and San Mateo), some will have access, and there are some cities within the six counties that are issuing more easily, so I could say that 90% of Californians have reasonable access to getting a CCW.

For what it's worth, my deputy requested that I called if I didnt hear back within 6 weeks. I gave it 8 weeks. Since it went to voicemail, I left a voicemail.

Hey all, Update for the archives

Interview: 9/10
Training completed late July and was added to file at the interview.
Live Scan was done 9/10 with the go ahead of my interviewing deputy.

I must say it was a great interview. I answered everything honestly and afterwards we talked shop and gun stuff.

Just checked online to see status.
CA Background completed - 9/10
FBI Completed - 9/10
Firearms Completed - 9/16

Now I just need to wait for that final call!

I hate to say this, but I agreed with his statement. Yes, very few out of 10 million people got issued CCW permits. Let's use the example of 5000 issued permits out of 10 million population, 0.0005 percent. That's it. I still don't see any improvement in public service and see more homeless problems in our community. I retired in early 2013 and the county is unsafer than ever before. It is not just his failure, but the entire LA county board of supervisors and the rest of the liberal democrat politicians in the state. People of CA really need to wake up and smell the poof in front of their homes.

If you've ever worked with our government, you would know things take time.

Orange County has been issuing for at least 5 years now and have 30K permits. Which is only 0.1% of the population, using 3.16 million as total population.


We're not going to hit 20% CCW numbers in our life time. ****, give me a bukkake and bleach my ******* if we ever hit 1% of the population CCW permits. Be realistic with your expectations, we're not in Texas anymore Dorthy.

I agree

I know there aren't a lot of ccw holders out of 10 million residents in LA county, but how many are registered gun owners when the whole state only has around an estimated 4-5 million registered owners?

At least right now it's easier than ever for the average person to get approved. Let's hope that the renewal in 2 years will be just as easy.
