CGN LASD CCWer #10!!! Issued using only Yellow GC!

      CGN LASD CCWer #10!!!

Due to their being an employee, this is the first applicant I know of who was approved using a Yellow GC! (employment risks), not Dark Red (personal threats) or Light Red (business ownership risks).

They did not have a phone interview, only an in person one.

My GC falls under #12 of post #31 in your thread. Not a business owner, just an employee in a career field that puts my safety in heightened jeopardy.

Neither to both. Just the nature of my line of work

      1) No I did not. I submitted my application and then lurked around on here and noticed the CCW thread. I really only used this site to buy a gun.

      2) Yes I will answer through you.

        Hey guys,

        I have a strange question.

So I'm filling out the application and preparing to submit it this week.

However, the issue is...I have a Glock 34. It is not the best firearm for EDC.
If I'm given LTC, I would purchase a Glock 19.

        However, on the website

How do I amend my license?

We do not accept amendments to firearms (add or remove). If you wish to update your firearm/s, you must wait until the time of renewal. If a Name or Residence Address Change is required, complete the Amendment form.
Once I submit the application, am I able to add firearms before my training/live scan/interview?

The G34 wouldn't pass the handgun requirements as it as an aftermarket slide/barrel/trigger and RDS.

Long story short...on your first application...when are you "locked in" to the 3 firearms listed. Am I able to add additional firearms before my interview?

This forum only concerns Los Angeles County CCW, not the entire State of California. Most other counties are more liberal when it comes to CCW, even the neighboring Orange County. So the best advice would come from folks who applied and obtained Los Angeles County CCW under Alex Villanueva’s new policy. That would be more relevant.

However, there are others who have been providing very helpful advice for others trying to apply for Los Angeles County CCW for years - folks like Paladin, CCWFacts and many others. These folks have definitely helped many who were able to obtain Los Angeles County CCWs now.

The worst advice would come from people who have been mocking and discouraging others from applying in Los Angeles County for years, and the best advice they can offer was to move to another county. Because those people believe that for most of us, it’s very simple to switch careers/move jobs, uproot our kids from their school, move away from immediate family and find a new house in a different county.

            Hmmmm....

The last section is a firearm amendment. I would call and ask. In any case, you'll need the new pistol prior to submitting the application as you'll need the serial number.

FYI, I am not mocking anyone. If people are now able to obtain a CCW in L.A. County I think its great. Its about time. We are all on the same side, however, there are very few people who will meet the still high GC requirement. As far as moving is concerned I lived in L.A. County for most of my life. I also have a career, home, family, and all of the other things you mentioned. Obtaining a CCW was very important to me so I did what was needed and moved. I now have my CCW. It can be done. I know from personal experience that this is the case. Those who truly claim to know really don't. They simply want what they are unwilling to do. Sacrifice and move to get what they want. They know less than you think. In any case I am truly happy for those members who were able to obtain a CCW in L.A County. I'm not of the opinion that those who claim to know so much know what they think and say they do. If I want an opinion about something I seek said opinion from those with experience in that subject. I don't ask my plumber for advice on medical issues any more than I ask my physician his opinion on plumbing issues. Talk is cheap. I see much of that here. carry on!

I was in the same situation. I ultimately went and bought the gun I wanted and waited until I had the serial number. I didn’t want any issues with my application. When you DROS a gun, you will get the serial number so you could technically apply 10 days prior to you actually taking possession.

Do this. Put at least one very suitable CCW gun on your app. Once it's on your app and you have submitted, assume you can't change it until renewal. In fact, I highly recommend you use up all three slots on your app if you possibly can. What if you need to have a repair on your gun and it's the only one on your permit? You can't change it.

I realize, right now semi auto everything is sold out completely, so this could be tough for some people, but if at all possible use up all three slots. A Glock 34 isn't suitable as your only CCW gun. You're not going to easily find comfortable IWB options for it so it's going to be a very annoying two years. If that's your only pistol, probably you should wait to submit your app until you have something more reasonable.

Also remember the guns need to be suitable for CCW (no AR-15 pistols allowed, other guns that are obviously not suitable like your favorite 6" 500 S&W revolver are not reasonable). And they can't be modified except grips and sights, and I would recommend not replacing grips.

And no large capacity mags, so get a gun that's in a larger caliber (40 S&W to 45) and doesn't use a reduced-capacity mag.

I mean... the license does say License to carry concealed pistol, revolver, OR OTHER FIREARM. My buddy got a chuckle out of the other firearm part.

He mentioned in the past GC was nearly impossible to meet. But they are issuing them.

He's trying to hold good to his word of 400% increase.
