Interestingly enough, it looks like the POC for denials has changed. I wonder when that took effect and if one might have more luck reaching this person than the previous?

All good. The worst part is being told to do the LiveScan only to get denied 9 months later! Oh well, moving on.

      6/19/21 - LiveScan completed
9/21/21 - Emailed LASD and was told "file pending review"
3/05/22 - Received Denial Letter due to insufficient Good Cause

My good cause was mainly recreational. Provided documentation of being in remote areas with no cell service, high value photography and firearm equipment. During the interview, the investigator focused on my car being stolen a few years back. I provided the police report and the crime map. I still live in the same area when it occurred.

Bummed but glad to finally be out of purgatory. The interviewer said I shouldn't have an issue and told me to do the LiveScan. I guess the LT thought different. Only pissed I had to spend time and money on the LiveScan. Hope this data point helps others. Hoping the Supreme Court ruling goes our way as I won't be applying a second time. Stay safe and good luck to everyone else!

If anyone is curious, I attached a picture of the Denial letter for your reference. Hope no one gets this letter.

Edit: The one brightside is that I didn't get Denied for Good Moral Character, Criminal History, or False Statement on Application. I did have an issue with MJ as a minor, which I disclosed.

Spot on. If there was Lack of GC why instruct them to go through the LiveScan process?

I don't believe that is correct. They tell everyone to get the livescan done. It is the training email that is only sent after they make a determination that the applicant has sufficient good cause. The statute says the agency cannot have you do the training unless/until they determine the applicant has good cause. The statute does not say anything about determining good cause before telling the applicant to get the livescan done.

Livescan is the part of GMC, so they have to run it, unless you bring a GC that's so unworkable that they'd tell you outright that you need to do something about it (I think)

Thank you both for the clarification. So it seems that completing the LiveScan process is inherently part of the GC assessment.

Finished my training with TRB last weekend, learned a lot, from shooting to CCW laws. Sent the certificate Sunday afternoon. I received the email this morning from CCW unit indicating that they received the documents. The last step needs 2 to 4 weeks. Hope I can get my CCW permit. If I can get it before the end of April. The whole process takes 10 months.

You make a valid point... I won't assume that I'm being ignored, instead I will use this time that I still have and try to get my supporting documents of these threats to the ccw unit in the most polite manner possible. I have nothing against the female deputy that I spoke with. She gave me a hard time but perhaps she has been dealing with so many excuses or perhaps fake good causes that she probably got a bit impatient with me.

I will chill out ... Namaste

EDIT: after inquiring more, I am confident that LG is dead in the water UNLESS you live in an area like the high desert in antelope valley.
What additional inquiries did you make regarding location of residence and with who to come to this conclusion?
