What’s everybody doing about the list of firearms on the application? At this time the only firearm I own that I could semi comfortably carry would be a G19 and I think I’d prefer something smaller. If my application is approved I plan on getting a smaller pistol specifically for ccw. Anyone have an idea how easy it would be to add a firearm later?

    from https://twitter.com/gunpolicy/status...01223543021576

"BREAKING: California Attorney General says "effective immediately, issuing authorities should no longer require proof of good cause for the issuance of a public-carry license."

Is it time to apply? Anything I should have prepared (can I take qualification/training course after application or does it need to be taken care of, etc?)

I'm in disbelief. About a decade ago I applied to Santa Clara while I was out there and like heyjerr, nothing happened. Now I'm in SM county, lets hope I have better luck here..

I applied for CCW when I lived in Santa Clara a few years back. Of course it just sat in place and never moved. Can't remember if I paid for that or not......but I just shelled out $118 now that I live in SM. Let the waiting begin....

I had submitted an application during the Peruta time period and Tom Merson was was the lead person. He was very respectful and agreed to hold the application pending the legal process.

I just submitted a new application to get it in the queue. Let's see how they handle the process this time around.

I think Tom's been retired for years? He looked ready to retire when I had my initial interview over a decade ago

Don't know. I got an email from a reserve deputy named Casey Terribilini. Two guys were cc'ed on the email, David Weidner and Peter Tokarski. I don't know who is who or who is running it.

Wonder if they'll drop the deputy-led classes at Coyote Point and start relying on external instructors instead. I doubt they can scale up the current process.

I applied for a CCW in San Mateo County yesterday. A few minutes ago, I got the email below from a deputy:
Good morning -- Thank you for your email inquiry and application. Our office is aware of the Supreme Court ruling and is in the process of reviewing/revising our policies and procedures to ensure we are in compliance. Please check our website in the coming weeks for changes.

Hard to say with Bolinas on the way out and an even "woker" sheriff on the way in. But I predict SMC will start issuing CCW's without requiring "good cause" within weeks.

I don't think litigation/re-litigation is needed unless the state or county sheriff continues to require good cause. For now, business will continue as usual for Sheriffs who have already been issuing CCW permits. As for Sheriffs who have not been issuing CCWs permits, it seems that they are consulting with their respective legal teams on how to proceed and/or maybe stalling until the state legislature rolls out with new laws and regulations. Meanwhile, CCW permit applications in those counties might be put in a holding pattern until they come to a consensus on how to proceed.

The San Francisco Sheriff's Department put out a statement about the ruling here: https://twitter.com/SheriffSF/status...35022841122816

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department gave a statement to media here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEgUTyCENkU

As far as I can tell, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office has yet to put out any statement about the ruling.

Unfortunately, state legislature is likely to roll out new laws and regulations in the near future that will make the CCW permit application process more difficult in other ways and maybe even expand what is considered "sensitive areas" where CCWs are prohibited.

"Them" is a new Sheriff. Be interesting to see if Bolinas does anything differently as he heads out the door. Same w/Santa Clara Co.
