    did you get that call?
I was at LAPD HQ yesterday (6/3) as well picking up my renewal. A lot more activity than when I picked up my initial permit 2 years ago. This time there were probably 10+ LAPD officers working at 3 tables. 2 years ago, I think maybe half as many LAPD and a smaller crowd. Maybe they reduced the frequency of permit pickup so they had more people, but based on what I remember from 2 years ago, it appeared to be more officers and more people.
Too many rifles, not enough time...

I wonder if there are grounds to file a class action lawsuit for the wait times.
I’m sure you can prove it’s purposeful, since it’s highly likely no other department has similar wait times.

There is already by CRPA against LASD. And no much change as I am aware. If somebody will file-I will 1000000% support it.

I got a call today after 1.7 years since i applied for my ccw at the end of 2023. I have an upcoming appointment on the 28th and need to get a live scan done before my appointment. Excited, and ready to move forward with this process. I have a question for people who went through the CCW interview process through the LAPD. When I was 18, I got arrested for possession of weed, and got the case dismissed & expunged. I turned 41yo this year with no issues since, not sure if they will ask about that? Can they see that on my record? and if I should be transparent regarding this issue if asked. I would appreciate any feedback. Nervous about the process as it's been so long, and don't want to mess things up over a questions and waste all that time.

I would disclose this fact before they ask. They will find out anyway, but your honesty will make them feel confident. Also, there are cases similar and they never were issues for denying. My friend’s son had way more problem than you and he got his CCW with LAPD.

Detective will likely smile and say, 'what about the last 5 years...'

Tell investigator during interview that you didn’t put in app since they ask only for last 5 years, but you voluntarily wants to disclose so you have nothing to hide. As any investigator he/she will appreciate it and will fill confident in you. (Sorry for my English, it’s ESL). At list this what I would do and I suggested to my friend’s son and it worked for him.

In the process of my first Renewal. Due to health issues was unable to begin the process 90 days prior to renewal, I submitted 60 days prior to renewal.
I submitted my renewal application 6/9, and my class requirements on 6/26, my permit expires on 8/1.
If they are still issuing only once a month on the first Tuesday at headquarters between 4:00-7:00pm I will be unarmed for 5 days as the first Tuesday in August is the 5th.
I made one change to my carry rotation, my 3 guns were a Ruger LCP, Glock 26, & Glock 43.
I'm upgrading the LCP to a LCP Max gaining 4 rounds, I'm keeping the Glock 26, and dropping the Glock 43 for a Glock 30SF, gaining 4 more heavier rounds. It isn't much larger or heavier than the Glock 26.
I wish we could have more than 3, no limit would be nice. I'd add a few revolvers to the rotation and my Seecamp.
Good luck to everyone going through the process.

So, are they issuing now once a month, not every 3 weeks like it was 2 years ago. This is interesting.

Got a call today about my detention. Told them the other party was cited for assault, I was the victim of the assault and false report. Gun never broke leather and never was visible. Followed training, turned so it was on the other side of my body away from the assailant, and hand was protecting for safety over shirt.
I also have video evidence I offered of the incident. Same video the responding officers viewed before citing the other party.

I’m looking forward to getting the renewal signed off and issued in the next 2 weeks.
looks like the next issue date will be the 30th or 31st of July.
                            👍

For those of you in the process of first time issuance or renewals, LAPD now appears to be a well oiled CCW issuer.

                            hang in there.

In January I was assaulted in front of my house, then swatted. Person said I pulled a gun on them after assaulting me. Not a bright person.
all with a witness and video proving it never happened. They didn’t know about the 16 cameras that monitor my home.
i was detained until they watched the video.
I was the victim. They were the aggressor.
They wrote the other party up for assault.
but I had to report the incident/detainment to my IA.
They wanted to talk with me about it before getting the sign off on my renewal. I offered again the video showing that I was the victim, and all I did was flinch away from a punch to the face, before taking a defensive position. I never felt my life was in imminent danger so gun stayed concealed and never broke leather, was never visible in my waistband underneath my shirt.
                                Thank god for video cameras.

the backstory is, people bought the house next door and started running 3 illegal business. The neighbors and I have been working with building and safety and code enforcement to rectify the illegal activities, all in coordination and through the city council member.

I was the most vocal neighbor and this was just retaliatory.

good news is, most of the violations have been addressed, businesses have moved, house is vacant and for rent.
