Updating the thread with pretty good news on LAPD processing speed.

I submitted my renewal on permitium exactly 90 days prior to expiration and paid the initial fee. Completed my renewal training 5 days later and uploaded my certificate and qualification form the same day. Got notified of approval 62 days later (23 days before expiration) and paid the balance. It's looking positive to receive the updated license before the current one expires.

That's good news and I will likely do the same except I will have my training done before I start the process for renewal. Thanks for the update

I thought about this too, but was hesitant with the conflicting information about taking the class before the 90 days. I’d wager it would have worked, but my guess is if you can get it done before it actually goes for review (which I would assume is not for a few weeks), I imagine you won’t lose any processing time.

yep on LAPD website it said training cannot be dated over 6 months prior to expiration so I will get it done early before I start renewal and have it out of the way,

Received new permit in the mail 7 days before expiration. No down time.

No notification after you pay final payment. You remember, they issue every 1st and 15th.
