I think others like myself have had so much trouble with this website that we just dont post anything . I applied with LAPD 6/13/2023 got approval and PTT 7/23/2024 by phone call and actual letter came 7/31/2024. I completed training and now waiting on pick up date.My investigator changed during this final part of the process but I dont think it will slow things any further and they have been good with keeping in touch via phone and emails.

from what I noticed by getting info from different people on process-LAPD detectives, in most cases, are extremely helpful, friendly and professional, with perfect communication. I actually heard only one case where officer was with bad communication, notable that officer wax not part of Narcotics/Gang department which is handling our permits. Everyone from N/G department are really great. In fact, my detective, my feelings, cares more for me to get permit, cares more than I did. She was pushing process like bulldozer!

PTT means Proceed To Training.

My interview was on 6/17/2024 about two weeks after receiving call to schedule. Quite a few things changed midstream of my process like SB2 so I had to do new application and bring to interview along with livescan being done before interview.

When we did interview, we got call 5 months prior interview for date (may 25th with interview on Oct 23, 2023) and we were told to do live scan right away on that call. Now it changes a lot. Are they still doing interview only on Mon and Tue?

For all, let me remind again, once you do CA firearms training/qual, you can apply and use this training for AZ CCW straight, do not get scammed for “special” certificate for extra €£¥$! AZ accept our training as is. Process is cheap and easy.

that sucks. i was scammed then lol. i paid an extra $50 for a “special AZ paperwork”

also LAPD CCW website updated today 10/1/2024 to say that we shouldn’t proceed with training until AFTER instructed to do so by chief of police…. this sucks considering i already did my training and livescan in advance…

also whats weird is the bottom section of the site still says the part where they will not accept proof of training dated more than 6 months before initial interview date. they’re so confusing it’s so annoying.

I did my class and live scan prior to my interview. I didn’t ask. I knew I was clean and it would be issued.
When it comes up for renewal, I’ll complete a class and live scan 110-100 days prior to renewal and submit 100-95 days prior to renewal, they have 90 days to issue or deny.
i just hope before my renewal, that they allow more than 3 on a permit. I’d like to add a revolver or three.

Last count, May 2024, 1,400.

I think it's still more of a recommendation and them not wanting to be blamed for people wasting time and money if not approved or also the 6 month issue.I think you will be ok as this update just posted today.I was never going to do training before my interview but that was just me playing it safe.

They weed out list of approved providers pretty often and they do not want to take responsibility if somebody did training it is not valid.

Sept 9 interview, completed training already, nothing yet, references have not been contacted.
