San Diego CCW

I took my course in two parts the first 4 hours before I even applied and then I did the shoot part three weeks after my approval. If I was to do it again I would schedule my full class 60 days after my interview. I did mine will bill Desy with ccw usa. -
I know the wait is brutal and you are at day 70. I would still personally wait until you are approved. I know for alot of folks they would not want to blow $200.00 bucks on the training to be denied later. I have yet seen anyone post for San Diego County that has taken the course without having an approval letter prior to the training. In my opinion you have already waited 70 days post live scan, what is another 20 days to have peace of mind that you are approved before proceeding with the training.Day 70. Wow, time really is slowing down.
In earlier threads it seemed like some suggested that if you make it through the 2nd half of the wait, you may want to take the risk and schedule the CCW course.
DGM seems to only let you schedule post-approval. Are all places like this? Would anyone recommend I try to do the course in advance, or am I "jumping the gun" by doing that?Leave a comment:

Firearm Safety Certificate. If you don' have a CCW (permission slip), then you need to take a test and get a FSC (lasts 5 years). You need to present the FSC each time you purchase a firearm and then perform a safe handling demonstration (the clown suit and juggling act are optional). Having a CCW exempts you from having to have the FSC and from the safe handling demonstration.Leave a comment:

No kidding. People get to drive around in dangerous lethal bludgeons and are not tested every two years or really ever after the first driving test. Let's compare negligent car crashes to mis-use of a CCW.
There is no comparison at all.Leave a comment:

I'm preaching to the choir but this damn state needs to up the timeframe from 2 years...which is ridiculous...to 3-5 years. Renewing every two years is a PITA and it's freakin expensive!
I feel better now. Rant off. Carry on!
