The weather was great for this month's matches; Sunshine, warm, and easy winds. Mostly the regular members, but a couple active duty Marines came out with their personal AR's with red dots under the "Modern Military" classification. Some nice vintage military rifles and even a really nice Navy Match Garand that was a trophy rifle from the late 60's era was on hand. Midrange match saw some nice F-class rifles. One active duty Marine had his Ruger RPR in 30 PRC out for a practice run.
After the CMP match we transitioned to the Midrange match (prone 500yd). Mostly F-class but a few Service Rifle participants. For giggles I shot a string with my "As Issued" M1 Garand. I'd never taken it past the normal 200yd CMP match, but it held the black at 500yds using 168gr match ammo. Definitley not as tight as my NM AR, but respectable for a GI rifle.
Possible dates in February for a Practical Carbine match and Garand/XTC on Pratscore: https://practiscore.com/clubs/santa_margarita_gun_club
