Think they want 1 shot per second. Semi auto.

Full auto in CA - funny.

On our public range, we do limit the fire to "One Round Per Second"

If you become a voting member, you can rent a private range and do rapid fire.

While looking into becoming a voting member to gain access to the Action pistol range I started to get deterred. It appears that classes or clubs dominate all of the bays during the weekends. If you?re lucky you can snag one of the two short bays. One of which you need to be extra careful and limit your use because of the potential to hit the 300yd range. The other has the porta john right next to where you load magazines, as well as shooting clubs orange barriers. These are also directly in front of the parking areas.

Can we do anything to increase the number of bays? Are voting members really not using the bays on the weekend?

I've been wanting to learn to shoot longer distances. This center is well suited to do this. But membership seems to be the issue. From the things I've heard, it's next to impossible to become a voting member there. There is this exclusivity and arrogance from anyone I've talked to that has voting rights. There really seems like there is no benefit to being a non voting member. Almost a disadvantage really. Am I misunderstanding this strange hierarchy? What advantage is there to joining under a non voting membership? Why would anyone want to do that?

I'm not trying to be cynical. It's a drive from placer county, and I've never been there, so I would like to understand.

I was wanting to be a member after shooting there in the private bays for CCW. Learned that you cant use private bays unless a voting member. Bahh... I shot at the Vintage Military Rifle Silhouette shoot they had on a Saturday an loved it. Bit bummer on the "soft/open tip " only shooting as this gets expensive very fast. I guess the term "Vintage Militry" means old rifle, brand new ammo. Not all of us are bench warmers with our reloading machines or have unlimited funds on Match King ammo. One day I brought my own steel ram to plink at the silhouette range with my sks. Shot a few dozen rounds at 250 yds or so... FUD came up and kicked me out .."cant bring your own steel and shoot FMJ.", afraid I would hit their steel, didn't like some true "surplus rifle shooting"

Not a big fan, very nice place, but UnFun police loom large there.

I've been a non-voting members for several years. In my situation I don't see the advantage to becoming a voting member.

Since I retired I go there probably once per week. $9 to shoot all day on the 100 yard range. People are friendly, the facility is nice, fellow shooters are great to talk to, I don't have a single complaint. My grandsons and I really enjoy the rimfire silhouette range.

I will confess that I have never read the fine print about membership privileges. And on top of that I rarely shoot handguns so maybe I am missing something.

Becoming a non-voting member appears to be the on ramp to a voting membership. Fees are less for non-voters. You can still use the action bays in the presence of a voting member. If you just want to shoot the public ranges you can do that without a membership. Just costs more.

You can actually go on the action pistol bays without being a member of any kind as long as you have gone through the "Action Pistol Orientation" held the first Saturday of each month at 9am. After that, you can go with a voting member on any private range the voting member reserves.
