The 77th Annual Compton Hunting and Fishing Club's Fish Fry is on Saturday, July 20, serving from noon until 5 PM. We serve about 1300 dinners. The club was started in 1946 by a group of businessmen and tradesmen. Our clubhouse, fry shack, soda shack, archery barn and a couple fenced acres of private grounds are located at 1625 Sportsman Drive, at the end of a small road past some industrial areas, off Atlantic where it curves under the 710 Freeway from Long Beach. (The south end of our property is the city limits with Long Beach at the huge empty Edison field just north of the 91 Freeway.) In 77 years, we have never had a problem. Google Earth our address to see our grassy, tree-shaded grounds. Besides the great fish, fries, homemade cole slaw and tartar sauce and ice cream for dessert, we have a bounce house, kids' games, raffles, bingo for prizes, beer and wine for sale. Door prize is a Traeger smoker/grill.
