I think it’s still miss named.

It's a little hard to argue with the geographical origin of the name. From Google's A.I. -

That’s not a bay. It’s a very small indentation along the coast. Up here in northern Cal we have a real bay.

Eugene, you clearly are not a sailor or waterman are you? A "bay" is simply an indentation in a coastline. It could be small and narrow (fjord), or extend further inland (estuary), or even be very, very large, and then we call those a gulf.

What you reference in Northern California isn't a single bay either. It's two, separate bays: San Pablo Bay and San Francisco Bay. Together, they are recognized as The Bay Area.

Me too, I have currently at least a couple of dozen.

I had a few dozen more a few years ago before my garage and house fire. After the fire we had to stock up again.
