Suggestion: a "Like" button

I don't know if this has been suggested before, or if it's even possible, so please forgive me if I'm being crazy...

I don't post very often in this or any other forum because, especially here, no matter how benign the post, someone will flame it. And I hate being flamed. If there were a "like" button, people might hit that rather than make their own post, reducing traffic in contentious threads.

It is suggested periodically (nigh on to 'regularly').

If I recall correctly, a couple of years ago it was suggested that the software the site uses might not be compatible with or support such a 'button.'

In any event, if you look hard enough, you'll find a certain amount of 'debate' in threads over the necessity, advisability, etc. of such a button.
