ADD Mailbox Feature to Splash Screen

I would like to see a mailbox feature added to the splash screen of this site to make it easier to track communications between members.

It needs to be setup like craigslist. First region and then county or major cities. Picture, title and cost per item

I like Librarian's suggestion and surprised it's not implemented over a decade later considering the market place seems to be the most popular part of the forum. In addition to regions, I think there should be a sub section for off rosters. I don't wanna sort through pages of overpriced guns with that $1000+ off-roster premium.

That's a great idea, and it's definitely and obviously needed.

Besides that, the WTB and WTS boards need to be limited to those who PAY for the Calguns.net sales and wants.

$25 gets you in for a year. I continue to be amazed by the cheap jerks who can't get $25 together and help the forum.

I know they talked about that before. I'd be all for it. I think it would definitely cut down on the scammers and you get more reliable buyers/sellers

Charge people to list a firearm for sale. I talked to 4 people on private DM and in person about this and they all said theyre gonna look elsewhere since they don't trust people on here anymore.

Somehow make it harder for people to set up accounts. Maybe register their phone number

MARKETPLACE: Can we extend the time it takes before an "inactive" thread is locked from 3 days to two weeks? I mean, what's the hurry to lock threads up? As a seller, you start negotiating with someone, and if you continue to bump the thread, that's a show of bad faith or mistrust on the seller still looking for a better offer. Then the buyer may drop off the face of the earth a week later (as sometimes happens with flaky people), the seller is now stuck with a closed thread and an unsold product. It's very frustrating.

(And hunting down a moderator to reopen the thread may see easy to the upper echelons of the forum, but it's not easy for the peons like me. Maybe create a button on the thread where the OP can appeal the closed status?)

I agree the forum should move to xenforo. It'll modernize the site and be much more responsive. I'd also run it behind cloudflare using their CDN and if you want to get fancy, load balancing across multiple servers.

I'd agree charging a small amount for marketplace would be something I support.

I find the fact that the supposed vBulletin software upgrade keeps getting pushed back indefinitely to be the most concerning.

Use your critical thinking and identify the causation factor.
When you place a WTB. You hang out a,here I am, .... screw me flag. Scammers want your money for free. And swarm like [bees to honey].

Sellers get money up frnt before giving up ownership of their item.

Charging sellers. Will never change the scam vulnerable position the WTB'ers put themselves in.

Maybe for FFL required items, but if you're charging $25 a year for a site with such awful performance like CalGuns, you're going to lose a lot of traffic to other, more reliable sites like AR15.com and GAFS.

Hey hey hey! I didn't have "Dark Mode" on my list, but I'm glad to see things up and running again. I might try "Halloween" theme next. Something new, something different!

Given all the brown tones I think Dark should be renamed the Dark Chocolate theme.
