New member in Concord, CA, fairly long time basic gun owner, but first time (hopefully soon) Ar-15 builder. Been sitting of a couple bare lowers, wondering if I could talk myself into thinking a Thordsen and 10rd mag might actually be better for "normal" shooting (not defending a Fire Base from human wave attack), then that Judge issues that 30day delay ruling, so that project is back in limbo.

Welcome from the East Bay.

Check out Palmetto State Armory. They have some excellent blemish deals.

Best,

Dante

Why would it be back in limbo? You can build a featureless anytime. And if you happen to have a legal, larger mag already, you can use that as well.

how bad is for example Thurdsen? CAN "featureless" be better for accurate hunting type shooting and more comfy more compact rifle? Because I don't see anyone using any when they can use normal ARs. Pretty sure use of Thurden in Free States is exactly zero. Plus reminds me of rifle used by Jane Fonda in Barbarella.

PS-I do got pretty big hands and use largest size gloves sold, so I'd have bit of extra reach for trigger.

Just to make sure, you are talking about the Thordsen stock like this one https://www.thordsencustoms.com/frs-...lack-502/.html right?

If you get that, the grip is pretty close to standard and you can use any magazine you want. You just have to use a muzzle device that is not a "flash hider".

Other options are a fin grip (I think they are stupid) or something like a Sparrow Dynamics featureless grip. I have a Thordsen stock. I replaced it with a Sparrow Dynamics grip. Cheaper, lighter, and looks more normal.

I have a featureless rifle that had a Thordsen Gen II and then a Gen III stock. It worked very well from a functional standpoint. Then I tried a pinned stock and a Resurgent Arms grip. I'm not sold on it yet, primarily because of the tight space between it and the buffer tube. I've got fairly large hands.

I guess I'll have to visit some gun stores and try the grips.

Haven't been to a LGS for years. I guess they gotta have some ARs with funny grips in stock by now, right?
