Default AK dustcover issue

So my dust cover won't click and stay in place. How big of an issue is this? What can I do to fix it?

What seems to be the problem? Is the button thingy returning to it's position and properly protruding from the cover or, is the cover just fitting too tight or loose?

The cover won't stay on. If I apply upward pressure it pops off and I can't pull back the bolt carrier without the cover popping off.

It's one of two things. Either you don't know how to put your cover on and therefor, it doesn't stay on or, it just doesn't fit.

If it's the later, I bet you can fix it very simply. I've fitted top covers using my leatherman but, I recommend pliers with wider jaws. Anyway, I'm willing to bet that you just need to bend the bottom rear of the top cover out a bit. Not too much, it still needs to be able to fit but, slowly tweeking it a bit will probably do it. Take your time, bend a little, move the pliers over a little, bend a little, etc. until you get the desired results. Try it. If you F up your top cover, send it to me and I'll send you a replacement (probably a Romy G).

I built it myself. It's a bulg74. What if the problem is the rear trunnion being too far back or forward? I don't know if that's the case though.

That's when you carefully bend the bottom rear of the top cover in or out depending on your needs.

If in doubt, whack it.

It appears to be below the front groove in the trunion, and it's not letting it go forward enough to drop into the rear channel and let the post pop thru. Pm me if you want with your number and I'll walk you thru it.
