M1 Carbine "Clone"

Make: Ruger

Model: 10/22

Caliber: .22 LR

Location: Sacramento to Southern California

Price: $315

Will ship: Yes

More details:

WHAT:

Ruger 10/22 (Ruger #1103), chambered in .22LR, and dressed up as an M1 Carbine. I did a full review of this here at CalGuns:
https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1385528

And a follow-up here:
https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1471583

This rifle has fired ~1000 rounds. Now that I've gotten an actual M1 Carbine reproduction chambered in .22LR (from Chiappa/Citadel/Legacy) thanks to a fellow CalGunner, there's no need for a Ruger 10/22 in M1 Carbine clothing.

Of course, I wish I could keep both (the Chiappa does not have a great reputation for reliability, and the 10/22 is a 10/22). Alas, the realities of my checkbook are such that I can't add to the safe without selling something.

Prices:
- Ruger 10/22 (Ruger #1103); came with one magazine and safety lock -- I paid $225.99 in 2011
https://ruger.com/products/1022Carbi...eets/1103.html
- Ruger 10-round rotary magazine (Ruger #90005) -- I paid $11.49 + $3.39 shipping in 2011
http://shopruger.com/BX-1-22-LR-10-R...uctinfo/90005/
- Sarco M1 Carbine-style stock with oiler and sling (Sarco #STK340) -- I paid $74.95 + $7.95 shipping in 2017
http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/ruger1022stockm1carbinestyle-1.aspx>
- two 1022FunGun M1 Carbine-style magazine extensions (no product number) -- I paid $19.95 + $1.60 tax for each in 2017
http://www.1022fungun.com/store/inde...products_id=16
- Ruger M1 Carbine front sight (proprietary to their M1 Carbine tribute) -- I paid $5.00 + $5.00 shipping from Ruger customer service in 2018
https://ruger.com/products/1022Carbi...ets/21102.html
- Sarco M1 Carbine milled (Type III) rear sight -- I paid $29.95 + $0.00 shipping in 2018
https://www.e-sarcoinc.com/m1m2carbi...rearsight.aspx
- Buffer Technologies recoil buffer (R10/22) -- I paid $9.50 + $2.13 shipping in 2011
https://www.thecountryshed.com/Buffe...fer_p_181.html
- UTG 10/22 extended magazine release (TL-MGRL22A) -- I paid $8.00 + $1.79 shipping in 2011
https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/prod...12274523623.do
- Sarco M1/M2 Carbine Stock Mag Pouch, Repro New -- I paid $9.45 + $0.00 shipping in 2018
https://www.e-sarcoinc.com/m1m2carbi...hrepronew.aspx

Adding it all together, I've put $437.69 into this rifle. Selling it for $315.00 (so with the $25 DROS and the $10 PPT fee, it's $350 out-the-door).

**********

WHO:

Active duty Marine turned surburban dad/Reservist.

WHERE:

Sacramento to San Francisco Bay Area (see below).

WHEN:

I'm generally free during weekday working hours (9am-4pm), but can make myself available on weeknights/weekends.

WHY:

Consolidating my armory.

HOW:

I prefer a face to face (FTF) transfer at the federal firearms license (FFL) holder of your choice in the greater Sacramento area. However, I drive down to the Bay Area (Alameda) all the time for work, and can take either I-80 (passing through Davis, Vacaville, Vallejo, Richmond, etc), state routes (passing through Lodi, Antioch, Concord, etc), or I-5/580 (passing through Lodi, Stockton, Tracy, Livermore, Hayward). Thus, I can also meet you pretty much at any FFL in the greater San Francisco Bay Area, as well as any of the cities I'll pass through on my way from Sacramento.

I can also ship, though you'll have to reimburse me (I recently shipped a rifle via USPS priority mail + insurance + signature confirmation to a CalGunner in SoCal for ~$30).

Check out my iTrader rating; buy with confidence.

Armytop,

Thank you First Sergeant! Hope your family is enjoying the newest addition.

All,

I will be driving to/from Southern California this August, and will be happy to meet you at the FFL of your choosing pretty much anywhere along the way.

Respectfully,

More details about the featureless AR-15 builds.

**********

As noted above, all modifications are reversible, should you move to a jurisdiction that has no assault weapons ban (or should you decide to install fixed magazines in these rifles). However, in order to meet the requirements of current California state law, these AR-15s all come installed with the modifications necessary to make them "featureless", and thus, regulated like any other semi-automatic, centerfire, magazine-fed weapon (e.g. the Ruger Mini-14).

In the pictures below, I use a featureless 7.62x39mm rifle as the example, but the modifications are virtually identical for all my AR-15 builds.

Going from front to back, here is a close-up of the featureless muzzle device, along with the original flash hider (you'll get both):

While it looks like an A2-style flash hider, it's basically just a thread protector. Here is a screenshot from Northern Gun Parts' website:

Here is a close-up of the featureless Exile Machine hammerhead stock adapter/grip with the original pistol grip (you'll get both) and a close-up of the buttstock, pinned so that it's now a fixed stock (you will get the original retaining pin/spring assembly so you can turn it back into an adjustable stock):
:

Here is a screenshot from Exile Machine's website:

Here is a screenshot from AIM Sports' website for the M4-style stock lock pin (SLP):

**********

To be absolutely clear, for $490, you will get a budget AR15 build:
- one featureless AR-15 complete rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm
- all of the original components to turn your AR-15 back into an "assault weapon", provided this is legal in your jurisdiction
- one Magpul 10-round PMAG
- no rear sight or optics are included at this price

However, for an extra $100, I will throw in:
- Magpul rear back-up iron sight (BUIS) -- though since it's technically not made out of iron, I suppose that's why the company refers to them as Magpul back-up sights (MBUS)!
- UTG medium riser mount -- allows for absolute co-witness
- Bushnell TRS-25 RDS

More details about the featureless AR-15 complete rifles.

To come up with a fair market price for the 5.56x45mm build, I searched for all 2018 listings here at CalGuns for a featureless AR-15 chambered in 5.56x45mm. To make it an apples-to-apples comparison (since this is a budget AR15 build), I took out those listings in which the rifle was priced higher than $750. I was left with these posts:
$700; Unspecified round count -- https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1465859

$500; 200 -- https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1411476

The average? $581.45. So I figure $490 is a very fair price for the 5.56x45mm build.

Back from military reserve duty, so once again limited to sales in the Sacramento to San Francisco Bay Area region (or within a reasonable drive from these parts):

That being said, our unit does train every now and then down at Fort Hunter-Liggett (near Big Sur) and Camp Roberts (near Paso Robles):

So if you're willing to wait for the right time, we might be able to coordinate an in-person sale then.

Screenshot from Rock River Arms (RRA)'s website for the LAR-458 complete lower:

Mine is much cheaper and comes featureless. Moreover, it has all the components to turn it back into an "evil" lower (i.e. you can reinstall the pistol grip and turn the stock back into an adjustable stock), should you move out of state, install a fixed magazine, or are exempt (e.g. LEO).
