Default Quiet pellet gun recommendation?

Looking for an exceptionally quiet pellet gun. There's so many options on the market, and a ton of them advertise "quiet", I don't know really where to start.

Does anyone have a nice and quiet pellet gun they're fond of?

Suppressed .22 Short subsonic.

Quiet pellet guns aren’t that quiet.

Shoot from inside, out to target thru open window or door.

What are you doing with it? I commented in different thread about using my suppressed Benjamin .22 NP2 to blast rabbits. The rifle just makes a ... hmm dunno how to describe it. Kind of like a boing with a slight knock sound. Pretty quiet. However, the bullet striking the target makes a pretty loud crack. Way louder than the rifle shot.

But, it actually sounds about as loud as a 22...not stealth at all.

I have a Benjamin Nitro power XL 22 cal it is no where close to quite a lot louder then a 22CB its is a bit quieter with heavy pellets that don't break the sound bearer.
I wish would have bought a Blue streak I had one years ago and it was accurate quite and had good power. I have no idea how good the new ones are many thing are not as good as they were 45 years ago.

This is the one I have

Was going to say the same thing. I gave mine away because it was too loud.

To the OP- I believe PCP guns are still considered the most quiet.

I shot my friend's PCP gun (can't remember the model) and I think the trigger action was louder than the pellet leaving the rifle.

Shoot 22 colibri powder less rounds. 500 FPS. Zero noise out of a rifle. A medium snap out of a pistol. It will not cycle

This ^^^^

I shoot gophers with these In my back yard with a rifle, And a pistol In my front yard ( little louder ). but my neighbors are cool.

All the air guns are 20x louder and still illegal to shoot In a residential area.

^^ This! It's so quiet, that you'll faintly hear the hammer drop, followed very quickly by the sound of the pellet striking your target.

I have found that a Crosman 22 caliber with 5 pumps is not that loud and does the job.

My CZ 452 Super Exclusive is more silent than a pellet gun. Even with CCI Mini Mags.

I have benjamin mayhem .22 w/sbd (silencer baffles). It is not quiet for the shooter, but as an observer it is not very loud. You can definately hear it, but nobody knows what it is. It kind of has its own sound. And then the pellet hitting the target makes a significant thud

I think the pcp airguns are quieter, but probably cost more than you want to spend

PCP with a moderator sounds like your snapping your fingers.

CCI .22 quiets from a bolt rifle get drowned out by background noise and neighbors won’t notice a couple shots. If it’s dead calm and quiet they might wonder what that popping sound was.

Another vote for the Benjamin Marauder. I have the .25 that I've done some modifications to, and there's a ping, but that's about it. I also have a springer (RWS) .22 and an older Benjamin pump rifle (.177), and they're both as loud or louder than the Benjamin. PCPs can be pretty quiet. When the .25 pellet hits though, it's quite a thwack. I have made targets out of cardboard boxes and rubber landscaping compound, and those are quieter, but when I am shooting at cans, steel, or vermin, there's a thwack for sure.

Here here, another vote for the Marauder, I have both the. 22 and .25, I dispatch gophers and problem squirrels and no one is the wiser, DonnyFl ha that's the magic maker, only trade off is that with either one, one being a high 20s to mid 30 fpe, the other a low to mid 40fpe they do make a definite thwack when they make contact with a soft target, some days I liken it to a home run blast depending on where it strikes, dead center chests shots can be very loud, the gun itself not so much.
FWIW, my .22 is dead quiet, I'd imagine that the. 177 version is even quieter, just my. 02

Any PCP with an integrated shroud or suppressor will probably do it. Keep the pellets heavy and your backstops solid.

As somebody already mentioned, shooting from inside a structure through an open window is the quietest. Even a Gamo breakbarrel with a suppressor is fairly loud outside. But from inside, it's pretty darned quiet to anybody else.

If you want quiet, choose any of many brands that advertise quiet shooting. Then buy it in .22 rather than .177. If you have to have a .177, make sure you use heavy pellets to keep it subsonic. An air rifle in .22 is almost always subsonic.

Break-barrels will usually cost less than PCP guns. But some PCP's are very quiet. If you choose a break-barrel, make sure it's not a springer. Springers require an artillery hold and the spring can be pretty loud. Nitro Piston gas guns are usually more quiet than a springer.

CCI Quiet or CCI CB Shorts or CB Longs are good out of a bolt action or lever action .22 rimfire. Or you could hand cycle them using a semi-auto. Don't expect very good accuracy or precision. Colibri's and Super Colibri's aren't the best for rifle use. They could potentially get stuck in a longer barrel. For some reason with quiet rimfire .22 ammo, some production lots are very quiet and others are pretty loud. So YMMV.

The Marauder isn’t dirt cheap but it easily fits the OP’s criteria plus the fun factor adds a lot of value. A .22 would work great. Wait for sales or for a nice one to show up in the classified ads.
