Last time I spoke with them they still shipped kits to commiefirnia. Doesn't say anywhere on their site they won't ship. Might be confusing them for centerfire systems

Non orginial barrels were crap with these kits a few years ago just a heads up not bashing, the original barreled kits were great.

But had to be used on a handgun or had to buy a barrel extension to weld onto them to be legal. I chose making a rifle so I had to weld on the barrel extension. I chose the same one that was used on the OEM civilian semi model they imported. Chrome lined so good to go with that combloc nastiness ammo!

Dumb question I should know the answer to, but these require a receiver that is different than regular AKM, correct? I have a couple spare AKM receivers laying around that I bought from Atlantic Firearms that I need to do something with and this would be perfect.

So somewhat answer my own question, it looks like my spare receivers will work, they just won't be correct and may need some dremel work/have a spare random hole or two?

Ya you are right, confused with centerfire.

ESS barrels are garbage, but $280 for a kit is still a decent price.

I agree, especially with an already populated and headspaced barrel.

They are 4140 steel, not 4150. They're also not necessarily populated correctly either. Mine came with a wonderful factory RSB cant. I had the whole thing demilled and pressed on a new CHF barrel. If you get one that turns out straight, that's awesome. Just know that you will be completely on your own for customer service whether you buy a populated kit or the entire rifle.

Eh. I'm not taking a home built AMD65 with a welded so it doesn't fold anymore stock to war. And if it's not populated correctly, that's an easy return and has nothing to do with barrel quality. Plenty of not-4150 steel barrels out there that do just fine.

Is it safe, and will it sling lead? And if it isn't safe, why?

All b.s aside. I ordered a kit. Built it, took it out shooting and it was ok. I'm sure there are way better barrels or kits but for 280 you shouldn't expect top notch products.

This thread reminds me a lot of someone justifying their RAS47 or I.O. purchase.
The point I was making earlier is that a potential buyer should be aware that bottom of the barrel parts are being used and the QC during assembly is dubious (if it exists at all). These are vastly different in quality than OG barrel kits or rifles and it is important to make that distinction. I dont get why folks are getting so personal about each other's purchases or non-purchases.

I got several of those kits from classic. All matching number kits, barrels populated strait, quick shipping and cheaper than all get up.

That inferior barrel issue mentioned above though.... may be impossible to find any quality barrel on earth ever. Oh, no. There are plenty of cheap barrels if you want to replace it or if you "shoot it out" like all these other guys who bought this kit and cried themselves to sleep for a year.

seriously though, the only issue I found was that some of the barrel pins broke when I would just go press them out. I started spraying them down with lube first, and never had that problem again.
