Default Current value of No4 Mk1? Pic Heavy.

I know the value of my modern firearms but not my older ones. So I am just checking to see the value of my Enfield. A rough low and high sale price would be good. Also what is HXP going for? I have 480 rounds from the last CTD grade "A" and 440 rds Grade "B" on stripper clips?

It is a No4 Mk1. From what I can see it hasn't been FTR'd. It is a Maltby from I believe 1942/43. As far as I can tell, it is all matching except the magazine. the bore is shiny and is a 2 groove.

The reblue will probably hurt the value some. Best guess would be somewhere in the $400-550 range for the rifle.

There's a bit more to valuing it...is it FTR'd? Whats the date on it? How is the bore? How many grooves in the bore? Confirm the bolt is matching...does it headspace? What number is stamped on the bolt face? Wood sanded or refinished when blued? Etc etc.

Ok I added better pics to the top. I don't know how they reblued it. I originally purchased it and sold it. Then randomly came across it for sale again when I was in the market for an enfield.

Based on these pics, and the earlier ones, I'd say market value is $350-450. The re-blue, less desireable rear sight, and 2-groove barrel are your main detractors for a top dollar collector. As a shooter, I think it's a perfectly good rifle provided the #2 bolt head took care of any headspace issues.

The ammo is a tough one to price because it has a bi-metal bullet that we can't shoot at any of the local ranges. Surplus .303 gets about 22 cents a round, but isn't non magnetic or reloadable. HXP is reloadable but needs the primer crimp removed and the bullet pulled in favor of a non magnetic projectile. Modern brass range safe rounds get 65 cents per, or more. I'd guess the HXP is worth 30-40 cents per round?

Hope this helps. PM sent also.
