my guess is that Colt is getting rid of their custom shop boxes -- since they closed out the custom shop a couple of years ago.

IMO, the Colt GC …. exempt or not, who care ! When I step into any CA LGS I assume that all the guns on the shelf (NOT on the LEO's shelf) are legal to own in CA. That what I pay $25 for the DROS to the DOJ to make sure that the gun is legal in CA and the new gun owner is illegible to own the gun, period.
But if I buy a gun on-line then it is a totally difference story.
Why worry be "shooting"

Yes, they would be idiots because it actually is a C&R, believe it or not. It is up to the BATF in terms of the C&R status. I am not sure that Colt would actually even know.

They will get more.

There are truck loads of Colts in the rest of the country and most states do not demand extortion money to let a company sell hand guns in their states.

It would be wholly irresponsible and financially reckless of me to purchase this. However, should you know of the location of said item available for purchase in LA/OC/IE gunshop - please PM me

Got a call from a family member I mentioned to about the Colt Gold Cup release. He said a rather small shop here in central Ca had a few.

Jumped in the car and less than 30 min later I was the proud owner of a new Colt.

Still shocked as I had checked with all the larger shops and was told no way Jose!

Most likely because they have not bother to take the time and effort to check to see that it is really a C&R, which is hard to believe since it is brand new, but if they would, then they would know the truth.

I agree, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride. Why make the DOJ even think about it. Next someone will call Di Fi for her thoughts, geeez.

I bought one in 9mm. Ended up sending it out for Kart match barrel , slide to frame fit and trigger job. ( still waiting for it . Out of the box it was reliable with my duty ammo. ( 147HST/ 147 RANGER). Accuracy was ok. Just ok. My duty Gen5 Glock 17 shoots tighter groups at 25 and 50 yards. The best I got was 6 inch 10 shot groups at 50 yards . Shooting of a sand bag. Overall quality is excellent. Small parts , with exception of cast sear , are very good. Its definitely worth the price and is a VERY good starting point for a custom bullseye gun.

What it will take to refit the slide to frame? Welding and polishing?

Since nobody locally has one, I searched and found it in 9MM (which is what I wanted) at Tombstone Tactical.

Unfortunately, they won't ship to CA unless it's on the roster. They don't care about the C&R list.

I will add Tombstone Tactical to the list of places that I will never buy from.

You can use a middleman, such as AudioPhil. They should ship as you could be exempt, such as a LEO.

Yes . I would send it to Clark's for that. Or just have new barrel and bushing fitted. If You dont shoot 50 yard line. I am sure if You reload and want to leave the gun stock , You will find loads that would be satisfactory for 25 yards
