Here' the latest Intell.

Bee Canyon still closed for target shooting / We're into the fire season with these santa winds
The Trails are still open for Off-Roading / All Gates Open !!
No fires in the" YellowPost" camping areas
The flashing info. sign is up at Cranston Ranger Station with info .

Even with these cool temps and drizzel days / With All the vegetation out there on a hot day it would go up in blazes with a squirrel Fart !!!!

Quick Story ::::::::::::::::::::::::

We took the dog out to the canyons for a run late Sunday
As we got off the pavement we were met by a Sherriff unit on the way out

He ( Snappy attituide ) told us to turn around .....NOW
We have bussiness back there ..............

So .. We turned around and stopped at the staging area / Where the dirt road starts . as we waited 3 other units rolled out of the canyon
Something was up !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then a Ranger SUV rolled out escorting a BMW out of the canyons
I asked ( I knew him ) if things were Code 4 now
He said it is Now / go ahead and go back there
He told me that a group was Blasting away with a .308 and a few other guns
He didn't have time to chat but he said " They were in Big Do-Do ".......

The basic fine for shooting when the canyons are closed is . $ 75.00
Then if you are blasting up trash .You'll be charged for littering / Big $$$

Now if those Mim- Rods had illegal guns ........... Well you get the picture

Well we took the dog for a good run as No-Body was left in the canyons
And we scored some nice LOAD of .308 Brass .........Expenisve .308 for somebody !!!!!!!!

Eat Dirt, Howdy! I have a question for ya.... If open fires are allowed in non yellow areas, Why is shooting not allowed there also? Not that CA laws make sense or anything.... Just curious... J.

Well....4 of my friends and me went out Tuesday morning. Got there around 930am and did some shooting til about 1pm. No one out when we got there and used the 4th (I think) spot. Saw one truck pass by about 11am and heard them firing further down the road. Roads were in nice shape, the recent rain packed them down so not dusty at all. A little trashy, not too bad. We hauled out several bags.

We had a varied asst. of arms: Saiga, SKS, Mauser, Mosin Nagants, .22lr, .380, .40, Mini-14, 30-30 and some others. Went through a lot of rounds and had great time. Felt good to kill some charging zombie pumpkins we had left over from Thanksgiving and Halloween decorations.

We'll be back out soon.

Sounds like you had a great time. We live in the same area it seems. I'm not too far from the Stater Bros. on W & B.

I will have to wait a bit longer I guess to shoot anything bigger than .223 or .22 for a bit. Shooting my 9mm and .45 hurt my thumb a bit where I had surgery in Oct. Shooting another guy's Ruger Security Six .44 Magnum (first time I've ever shot that large of a caliber) really hurt.

I couldn't figure out why I was hurting until the 3rd and last round and then recalled the surgery. I could barely shoot the 9 and 45 after that and finally gave up.

Perhaps we can get together when it's up to par. I've been up there with Eat Dirt, who has been shooting there since he was a kid (he is definitely not a kid anymore).

Is this BLM land or do you need a "forest" pass to use it?

NO forest pass needed .........

It is forest land , But it was kind of Grandfathered in as a open shooting area
As it had been there for " Decades "............. As a local valley shooting spot

Latest NEWS on Bee Canyon.............

Just got back ...I have been gone for a few days . So I couldn't report

The road is Closed to car and Truck traffic / There is a large wash out just past Double Check Retreat
The river itself next to the road is about 4 feet deep and 30 Feet Wide !!!!!!!!

If you want to go shooting ... You will have to " Hump " all your gear from the staging area ( Entrance off the main highway where the dirtbikes unload )
and walk all the way to the first shooting canyon
At least 1/2 mile to carry your gear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To just the first canyon
Nice day for a nature walk ??????????
Now if you had a Quad or a Rhino ( ) you could pack it up and ride to your favorite spot

I Know ....... I could start doing a " Cal-Gun " shuttle !!!!!!!!!!!!! With my Rhino ...........

Here's a picture of the wash-out ::
