Thumbs up Handgun training in the San Francisco Bay Area Saturdays Sept 11, Oct 9

Shooting is fun. It's more fun if you're good.

Are you looking for a class where you can wear your plate carrier, helmet, shemagh and do mag dumps at big targets, really close while the instructor yells "threat!" or "gun!"? Roll around on the ground and slowly walk towards a target and call it "shooting on the move"? Practice team tactics with team mates you'll never see again? Take tactical advice from an instructor who has never implemented tactics as part of his profession? Well then this class isn't for you. We don't do tactical fantasy camp. Do you want to learn how to shoot safer, faster and more accurately? We do that. Our lead instructor is a former SWAT cop and current USPSA Master class competitive shooter. We don't waste your time teaching you hypotheticals.

T3 Pros
Pistol Principles I
Richmond Rod and Gun Club
$175 tuition

This is a technical course for beginner to intermediate shooters (90% of the people reading this) who want to get better at shooting, even if you have taken a course from somewhere else, including Basic, Boot or academy. We go into great detail on the fundamentals of marksmanship and how to shoot faster. Our classes are a full day, 9 to 5. Students receive a certificate upon completion.

January 30th Sold Out

March 20th *new rescheduled date*

May 8th Sold Out

July 10th Sold Out

September 11th

October 9th

Classes are being held outdoors on an action pistol bay at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club, which is 25 miles north of San Francisco. Classes will convene rain or shine. Feel free to PM me with questions. Can't make this date? Click the link in our signature to be added to our mailing list.

Student equipment list:

*Positive attitude, willingness to learn, sense of humor.

*Pocket size notebook, pen, and Sharpie marker.

*At least 1 reliable handgun, preferably duty/full size, capable of holding at least 10 rounds.

*Quality holster that does not require a trigger finger button actuation to release pistol (no Serpa, Sigtac), and maintains rigidity when pistol is removed (no nylon, suede, or other soft material), without a thumb break or strap used to secure the pistol inside the holster, worn outside of the pants on the belt at approximately 3 o'clock.

*A rigid belt specifically designed to carry the weight of a loaded firearm.

*At least 2 magazine pouches.

*At least 3 magazines.

*250 rounds of quality ammunition that you have verified works in your handgun.

*Ear and eye protection, sunscreen and ball cap.

*Clothing/footwear suitable for a day hike (check forecast) .

*Lunch, snacks and water. We will have a short, working lunch and will not have time leave the facility to pick up food.

*T3 Pros FAQs*

Q: "Are these tactical or competition oriented classes?"
A: These are "get gooder at shooting" classes. How you apply those skills is up to you.

Q: "I've never been to a shooting class before, is it run like a boot camp or police academy?"
A: You are treated like students and clients, not like soldiers or cadets. We want everyone to have fun while they're learning.

Q: "How much is the range fee?"
A: Range fee is included in the ticket price.

Q: "How much of the class is spent shooting?"
A: Approximately 1 hour of seated lecture, the rest of the time the class will be broken into 2 groups alternating on the firing line.

Q: "I'm not ready to take a class yet, I need to practice more first. Will you be doing the same classes next year?"
A: Pistol Principles 1 is a fundamentals class, there are no prerequisites. Practicing on your own without guidance could be reinforcing poor habits or techniques that will be difficult to unlearn later.

Hey, a class that fits my schedule! Good chance I'll take the day off and sign up.

Is there a website or any information on your program? Reviews or videos from previous classes, future schedules, etc?

This is our 4th year of Pistol Principles. I think we do a good job of conveying the fundamentals of marksmanship, but we're not so good at recording or advertising it.

We'll have more courses this year, you're welcome to drop in on a class to view how we do things.

A Mini-Review

I have taken two classes from T3Pros and I will be taking more. I've taken the basic pistol class and a more competition-oriented class. Both were worthwhile, even though I'd taken a lot of basic pistol classes before. The teacher is very clear and had some insights that I needed to learn, and found some issues with my technique that so far no one else had seen. The small class size probably helped with that. We got to shoot a lot, but there was a purpose for every round of fire. Even the basic course went into basics for higher-speed shooting, which wasn't a strong point of mine. I have to practice in indoor ranges, and don't get a chance to do rapid shooting very often.

So I've signed up for USPSA and taken the Linden Gun Range New to Competitive Shooting course, so I should be at matches starting soon now. The T3 Pros courses definitely helped me along this path. I've also taken classes with LMS Defense and Threat Scenarios, and they've been great, too, but getting different perspectives helps.

Hi T3Pros.

I've signed up for March 28th. Never been to anything like this before.
I'm looking into holsters options, as I don't have any, and literally sinking in the models and brands.

Can you please share some recommendations?

Looks like a good class. I don't have holsters or belts or mag carriers. If I did I would probably sign up.

There's a lot of competitive and tactical shooting events in the Bay Area. If you'd like to get out from shooting in a stall we're a good jumping off point.

Holster for $28.

2 mag pouches for $32.

Hey guys! Not sure if this is the proper venue for a review, please feel free to copy and paste wherever you see fit.
Class was awesome. James and Beau are absolutely top notch instructors. Friendly, professional, experienced, knowledgeable, excellent communicators. Class is all substance, zero Hollywood fluff or cool guy ****. They'll -safely- push you out of your comfort zone and get you to be faster and more accurate. This is not one of those classes that are nothing but a celebration of the instructor's ego. This **** works. And they make sure to make every single round count.
Highly recommend taking one of their classes.

So who is teaching Pistol Principles I. Saturday January 30th @ Richmond Rod and Gun Club? LE/military creds? Highly ranked IDPA/USPSA competitors? Or just guys like me who train a lot?

I think students should know exactly what they are buying before they show up. Just saying...

Making an assumption here but from the information provided in this thread, it could be James Yeom from Threat Scenarios.

Yeah, 1911s are just fine. We run some drills that require 10 rounds so just have a few 10 rounders with you. Jan 30th is sold out but we've added more dates.

I took a 1911 maintenance class from him in 2012, and he's been a fellow student in a few classes we've attended over the years. Good on him for continuing his firearms education.

It's been rescheduled for Saturday, March 20th. It's the first time we've had to change a class date in over 5 years. Hope the new date isn't too inconvenient for you.

The state of California does not mandate mask wearing for outdoor activities where social distancing is practiced, and neither do we.

Right, we know this.

Will you mandate social distancing at least?

We encourage students to socially distance and have reduced the number of students on the firing line at one time from a maximum of 12-14 to 7-8.

As much as I really enjoy talking about masks and Covid in our paid advertising here on CG, please direct any further questions to us via PM.

Came here looking for a shooting class, was recommended this particular instructor.

And unbeknownst to me I have to be exposed to more asinine nonsense. As if every day life surrounded by a bunch of braindead cucks wasn't enough already - the past year was already a demonstration of what pieces of **** human beings have become, and now this...

I sure hope that any mother****er "who has older family members who are immunocompromised" and is expecting the instructor to enforce Newsomnian dictatorial policies, is going to stay the **** home. That's where they belong in the first place, during every annual flu season, and every previous media-driven fear-warped pandemic (we've had a bunch, remember??). With that **** for brains you're already dead anyway - the outdoors are for the living.

What are these ****s going to do next, come here and lecture us about "common sense" gun control laws?

Stay the **** out of my hobby #@&$ !!!
