Default If you eat Rice

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HHVCRLJ...t_details&th=1

This Iberia rice product is currently $6.48 for 3.4 LBs. Easy to keep on the shelf and cook. 20-22 minutes and your done, I’ve grown weary of steamed rice and putting veggies, meats and stuff in it to gather some taste and this has the taste. Great flavor IMO I hope you like. My first order of this last month at 10.50 and I went back to buy again and see inflation has brought it DOWN to $6.48

Looks good to add to the prepper stash after vac-sealing, I grabbed a couple.

Also looks like this was the price for around 6 months straight last year, but still a good deal

Equivalent of about 12 rice a roni boxes, a third of the calories and half the price.

If using that product in "normal times," reducing the calories is fine. For food storage for hard times, however, "calories are your friend."

Yes there are times calories are needed but I gather rice a roni calories aren’t necessarily the best kind. Still I understand your POV but for right now I’m just trying to spend less on what I eat.

Spot on bubba. When I look at long-term powered milk and it's "low fat" WTF?

Yup, that's why I don't bulk purchase lettuce for long term storage. LOL. Seriously though, stockpiling canned soups and other lower calorie canned food is OK for adding variety to one's diet but, most of the stockpile should be high calorie items.

Interesting, probably tasty and a good deal.
But I am watching my salt intake (for blood pressure), so did not buy.

I made a small test batch yesterday, it was good - my son and I both liked it. Could use more beans though, there are not many. I may try adding some dried jalapeno flake next time for a little kick.

I vac-sealed a bunch of servings from 1/2 cup to 1.5 cup with desiccant packs inside for long term storage.

I like that it’s container is a screwed lid and after making a cup I can put it back on the shelf. Not sure of shelf life but seeing that I can get 12 + meals out of a container once opened I know it’s only 6 weeks likely.

As for those worried about salt. Checked my rice a roni boxes and found 540-830 depending on flavored type. All of these figures are per serving which we know is small. A link I just found suggests white steamed rice has 600mg per cup. This maybe an apple an orange becauee the cup of Iberia could be more servings I’m not sure.

That's because you can't have regular fat dried milk and expect it to last...the fat is not conducive to long time storage...it'll go rancid faster.

For long-term powdered milk storage, you want it low to non-fat.
