Default 1912 Chilean Mausers

Finally found some mostly matching 1912 Chilean Mausers towards the end of 2018. I have been looking for them for 2 years. Anything I found was either bolt mismatch, converted to 7.62x51, or was way overpriced ($500 was my limit). The long I found at a local auction and the short found me. The short is interesting because it is not in the white, but was not refinished here or after conversion to 7.62x51mm. Both the short and long are in original 7mm Mauser. However the short had it's original barrel replaced with a SIG barrel. Also interesting is both are matching except for the bolt shroud, safety, and cleaning rod. The same 3 parts are mismatched on my 1895 Chilean Mauser Long. Still need a matching in the white 1912 Chilean Short.

The SJG are very good barrels, I put one on my 91 Argentine then cut it down to 24 inches and it's a very good shooter.

That is a very nice pair, capt. I never knew SIG provided Mauser barrels.

I have a couple of 1912 carbines, one matching, one not and a long rifle, matching.

I'll need to check the barrel shanks to see if the the non-matching is a SIG barrel...it is one of the nicest milsurp barrels I've seen, Swiss and Swede's included, so I'm sure it is a rebarrel.

That bore really shines. My SIG barrel doesn't look like it saw much use either. Is your receiver blued or in the white? I assume 7mm?

I picked a short from Samco right before they closed shop a few years ago. They were going for $189 and were advertised as non matching but at that price, why not. When I received it, I was surprised to see that it was all matching minus the cleaning rod. The handguard was cracked but great gun overall for the price.

If either of you decide to sell your 1912 short I am a buyer.
