Default Someone.. anyone... take me out of buying a Hi-Point 10mm carbine.

I've been wanting a carbine in 10mm for a while now. I load/shoot tons of 10mm, entirely through a G20 and a G29 up until now. I'm a sucker for the noise and fury of a nice-and-hot 200gr.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything carbine wise in 10mm. I'd LOVE an upper for my registered AR pistol... but only Olympic makes them as far as I've seen... and they're too pricey for the quality.

Mech-Tech has that nice carbine kit I could use with my G20... but only when I drive to Nevada to shoot. (not CA legal). I do shoot in Nevada, it's about an hour away, but only maybe twice a year.

There's the chance I could pick up a Thompson and do a 10mm conversion, that would be sweet, but the price tag would be huge.

Enter the Hi-Point 10mm carbine. I watched some reviews on youtube, and it looks surprisingly decent (for being super-ugly, and well... made by Hi-Point). The price is within the impulse-buy range, and I can order one CA compliant with a grip fin.

BUT IT'S A HI-POINT.

My options appear quite limited though. So since friends don't let friends buy Hi-Points... somebody please talk me out of it. (Or, if you have one and love it, talk me into it.)

The hi point carbines are ugly not very ergonomic I guess. But I see a lot of people online that are happy with them. They’re reliable and hi point has great customer service if you have any issues. I say go for it. Every other option would be too expensive in my opinion.

I hope Ruger comes out with a 10mm PCC.

Just Do It!

Be the guinea pig and report your experiences.

They may be butt ugly, but with a rattle can camo paint job they look a little better than in all black.

I've been waiting for 10mm uppers or barrels for years. I have no idea why companies haven't jumped on this.

I loved my HP carbine up until i had to grip fin it. Now it's just not the same. I never cleaned it for thousands of rounds and never had an issue.

Wait and see if Ruger comes out with 10mm in their new PC carbine.

People crap in them all the time. TBH they run flawless and get the job done. Hipoint customer service is also king.

If it wasn't for the fact that the Hi-Point would need a grip fin I would of said just buy one, heck at $290 I'd try one myself.

Get the 10mm Hi-Point Carbine OP.

You could convert it to a bull pup, however you'll need to make the OAL 30".

Do it.

The Hi-Point carbines are built better (more reliable & durable) than the Hi-Point pistols.

Alternative... get a CA legal Vector CRB carbine in 10x25mm. It uses Glock 20 magazines.

For 340.00 you cannot beat it. I have the 9mm, came with two 10 rd and 2, 20 round, the 20 round mags aint worth a flip, but it shoots fine with the 10 rounders. Being in Nevada, I can get pretty much what I want.

You are asking people on gun forum to talk you out of buying a gun. It just doesn't work that way.

I have Hi Point carbines in 9mm and 45 ACP.

They just work.

And being 60 years old means that I don't care what people think about my guns.

A Ruger PCC takedown in 10mm.... man, if they start making them, I'm buying 5. I love my 9mm takedown, bought a 2nd one already just to get funky with the cerakote.

The Vector, mmm... nice, but pricey. I hate seeing them CA neutered, it's a crime, so I'll be passing unless I can talk Mrs. 2111 into moving to Free America.

That JRC carbine looks decent, and isn't cost prohibitive. I'm going to put that on my shopping list. Thanks!

Since some of y'all got the Hi-Point, and aren't having any problems, I'll pick one up to paint and beat on. I put a metric ****-ton of rounds through my guns, they get heavily used... so inexpensive ones keep me from having safe queens.

Now, if y'all said "My cousin has one, they're garbage", I'd pass... but with first hand reports from calgunners, I'm going to need to jump on one. I'll report back when it gets in.

Yes, Hi Points are cheap, ugly and ghetto. But they also work! I have a carbine in 9mm and it's great. Never a problem with it. I bought one of the hightower bullpup stocks and love it (had a hell of a time extending the barrel to make 30 inches...).

Just get it!!

The triggers are trash. Shooting with a fin sucks. I could have sworn there was another company making uppers. It took glock mags. Been years since I’ve seen it. I will say this about hi point. They are fun to shoot with out the fin. My dad gave me 3. 2 in 40 and 1 in 9.

I actually have a hipoint 1095. Its a fun little rifle and fairly accurate. I have had no issues in the couple 100 rounds ive put through mine.

Exactly!

If I had the need or the room I'd buy one, or more.

They are no more "ugly" than any of my AR's. Would you want "pretty" or functionality and Customer Support?

I'd take function and Customer support!

Also, if you think you're gonna paint it, think again. It's not a standard glass filled nylon plastic. It's soft. Will do nothing but chip and flake. Not recommended.

Very good to know, thanks for the info!
Perhaps I'll use it as a project and chop it down and get it into a wooden stock of some sort. Hmm...

That would be cool! You could probably also fashion the wood to improve the looks of the gun. Take it from fugly to homely.

If you chop on it and screw it up - send it back under warranty and they’ll make it stock again. I’d put an apology letter in with it, but they’d fix it at no cost.

Hi-Point carbines are awesome.

Depends on the look you want. Many like the battleworn look and think chips and scrapes add character.

OMG Don't buy the Hi-Point.

I want to be the only one having ALL the fun.

Hard to be the cool guy at the range is someone else shows up with one.

It delivers well for the price.

And what is the worst that can happen? Wear it out? For that price who cares? It's about the same as a 10/22. When I get tired of shooting mine I'll leave it in the Cabin safe for whatever. And eventually someone will make aftermarket furniture.

Don't worry... you won't see me on the range. I shoot mostly on BLM land.

+1 for do it

I’ve got one in 9mm and it is surprisingly accurate

Pretty much anything sucks with a fin grip but you can always take it off in NV until they try to catch up with our “progressive” gun laws anyway

I don't think it fits a 10mm.
I'd be all over the stock if the designed it to take glock mags instead of keeping the buyers stuck with the 10 rnd single stack mags.

I've got the carbine on order... Definitely have some ideas for this project. One big one is to find a way to mod ghee receiver to accept glock mags... That's a must.
It seems like everyone is pretty much just either doing the bullpup stock replacement, or other such drop in mods. I'm gonna take the ugly thing and just use the action and barrel.

I'll probably make a thread for the project once I get started.
