Default 'Modern' Scottish dirks

I want to buy a birthday present for my son; it's a little bit of a joke, because he often wears a 'utilikilt' when he is not at work.

Not interested in an antique; not very interested in the 'regimental' highly decorated examples.

If I could, I'd buy this one - https://todcutler.com/collections/me.../scottish-dirk - but it's out of stock. One of the bollock daggers there might suit.

Cold Steel version might have worked, but do not want a plastic handle.

So, do any of our members know a decent dirk for $150 or so?

Check out EBay. Lots for under $100. Good luck.

I immediately thought of the cold steel offering, but you said it has a plastic handle...

This description says carved rosewood?

I own two of the Tod Cutler bollock daggers, the Mary Rose model and the studded model (because a "studded" bollock dagger is just hysterical). Both are superbly made weapons.

The Mary Rose model is almost a short sword in overall dimensions, which is understandable, given it is modelled off of one recovered from the Mary Rose, who carried a large compliment of English bowmen. The studded model is still a considerable weapon, but much more of a belt knife. The false edge on top is cool, makes the blade quite handy. Scabbards are very well made and fit the blades snugly.

I'm surprised nobody looks to etsy.com. It's where international craftsmen sell their wares.

Go on etsy and enter "dirk" to see everything available. I'm particular to TobyMcgregorSporrans, of Scotland. He makes and sells dirks like these for under $100.

bladehq also has one in Damascus. It is on sale but perhaps less than you wanted to spend. On sale for $68. "Regular price" supposedly $96. I would guess not very well built, but if it is mainly for show....
