Default Heritage Rough Rider .22LR

My new pew pew because CA laws about buying ammo as I have not been a registered firearm owner beforehand.

Single action...this some Billy The Kid kind of stuff. LOL

Whatever...it was $120 at Sportsman's Warehouse and I have a ton of .22 LR anyway. Plus, I can change out the cylinder and shoot .22 Winchester Magnum.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Quirks & features? Kind of excited to shoot it this weekend.

Nice score, decent price. I picked up 2 NIB, at a street faire, when my son moved to Kentucy. Both that barrel length, one with a grip like that another with a green laminate. They're in Idaho now. I like them, they were $300 OTD Cash & Carry in Kentucky Not Ruger or S&W quality, but cheap plinking fun. PAX

A friend has one and it shoots very well. The only issue he had was the screw that holds the ejector rod housing to the muzzle end of the barrel came loose and fell out. Fortunately, we found the screw. Easily fixed.

Check that screw to be sure it is tight.

SA revolvers are a lot of fun, especially with .22 WMR. I have two: A Ruger Single Six, and a Colt Peacemaker.

Have fun!

The Rough Rider series of revolvers has a manual safety, which new users seem to not realize it is there and then wonder why their new single-action revolver does not work, because the manual safety was engaged.

They're great fun, well worth the 120 bucks. I have the long barrel one and take it out almost every time I shoot.

Your ammo salesman was incorrect about your need to buy a gun, to be able to buy ammo. You got taken.

Perhaps. But I went there to buy ammo and I couldn't.

I'm was not in the Automated Firearm System (AFS), so I don't know what to tell you. I've never purchased a firearm before.

Yep, if you aren't in the system or moved so address doesn't match what is already there, may as well buy a gun or two or three or....

I have a Heritage, it's a little rough, but it shoots good.

It's such a blatant knock-off of the Single Six that some Ruger parts bolt right on. Which is nice.

Congratulations! (on being forced by our wacky state laws to buy a gun just to buy ammo, cuz I'm sure that's not what the intended, which serves them right for having wacky anti Second Amendment laws to begin with.)

I've never owned one but for that price you can't go wrong, because if you really hate it you can always sell it in the marketplace here for just a few bucks less than it was priced at so you only lose a few bucks, the dros fee and taxes.

I've looked at all of the Rough Rider pistols on their website and the only one that grabs my eye are the shorter barrel, birds head grip versions. And for whatever reason those ones never get to be low "sales" priced.
I've always felt that the biggest disadvantage of Colt Style single action revolvers is the slow unloading and reloading. But with a backup loaded .22 magnum cylinder ready to go that would speed things up some.

And thanks for starting a thread that involves guns, because I've noticed a lot of calgun's threads these days involved non firearm related topics.

I've had 3 RR revolvers, first one was a steel frame model didn't shoot it much so sold it, next was a Birdshead grip, gave it away to a friend, last one has the front and rear Fire Sights (that I can see well) which has the adjustable rear sight. Nothing wrong with the RR, good price, decent quality (granted not a Ruger, S&W etc), never had any issues with mine. I do prefer swing out cylinders though so I can use speed loaders.

If you accidentally go Alec Baldwin on somebody these will melt easily in a fire. Or you can take it boating

I like the safety; can dry fire without snap caps.

I went to the St George, UT gun show this weekend and came home with a Charter Arms .22 revolver, DA, 4.2" barrel.
Lots of guns there, like the old shows used to be with tables covered in pistols and rifles with a wire cable lock securing them, and the sellers encouraging you to check 'em out. And lots of ammo.

Fired it on Sunday. It goes pew compared to my .40SW Springfield which goes POW.

It was fun to cock back the hammer each time. I was pretty consistent when it came to grouping.

I was going to just turn around and sell it. But now I'll just keep it.

Have one and like it too. Fun plinker if it shoots slight left or right you can file the rear sight groove.

Or you can fill with jb weld and cut a new groove then a quick shot if paint

I have the similiar Ruger Wrangler. The only thing I did to it was add a pair or wood grips. Looks really nice now. My only dislike are the sights, but I guess that's part of the design. I bought it because I was tired of semi auto 22's jamming on me.
