Can anyone tell more more about this rifle?
My dad passed away and this was one of his rifles at his home in AZ. I'd like to get more information about it. Other than the foldable stock. It's just stamped Ruger Model 10/22 Carbine. So, is that what it is? ![]() Tried to find out if there is a newer version on Ruger's site. But this one has a pistol grip. Do they not make this any more? ![]() Last edited by RikersBeard; 12-28-2022 at 8:12 AM.. |

There are SO many options available for a 10/22, which is a big reason why people love them. Customization on a 10/22 is an endless project.
Here is a simple list of 10/22 stocks from one site: https://www.brownells.com/search/ind...k=10+22+stocks But keep searching and you will find more and more and more. The 10/22 is a great little rifle. People have been known to put 3-4x the amount of the original rifle into it with customizations. |

Looks like any other 10/22 with the exception of the ring on the barrel by the end of the forend.
Clearly it is not the barrel band as that is present. Interesting camo job too.

Sorry for your loss. There are dozens of stocks for them. I've got a standard wood one you can have for $25 bucks if we meet at the top of Altamont Pass. PAX

Thanks for the info.
As for the camo, I'm not sure if he bought it that way, had someone else do it, or he did it himself. Should be fun to just plunk targets at a range. Sorry last question, what about a CA compliant magazine. Would something like this work? https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-...ounds/p/301987 |

OP, AW laws don't affect 22lr rifles. Here is one of my 10/22's tacticool'd out. Standard tactical 10/22 with a Midwest Industries chassis system.

The production year can easily be found by using the serial number list on the Ruger website.

The stock is an Eaton, they were the original makers of this type of stock.
Eaton sold the design to Butler Creek, who added the rubber plug for the grip cavity. A folding stock is legal in CA on a rimfire. Just be sure that the barrel you use is 18" or longer, (standard is 18 1/2") the Compact model 16" barrel will leave you an inch or so short of the Ca minimum folded length of 26" when the stock is folded. CA measures overall length in the shortest possible configuration. If it was your Dad's gun, I would leave it just the way he has it and enjoy it. Looks like a nice set-up. ![]()

Folded the rifle is just a bit over 27" long from end to end. I go back and forth. Ultimately if I don't need to replace the stock, I'll just leave it as is. Thank you everyone for your input and time. Much appreciated. |

I had one of my 10/22's in a side folder for 45 years, then went with TacStar. PAX

BTW, your rifle is built better and has better components than a brand new one.

It was your fathers, my condolences. I’d leave it just the way it is, minus the scope. Think I’d put a inexpensive small red dot on it and just enjoy it as a fun little compact plinker.

I would put a wood stock, and a stock extension on it. I'm only 6-2, but find the typical 10/22 stock to be too short...
But, it's his Dad's rifle; would probably just leave it as is. Get another 10/22 if you want something different. |

I'm a big fan of Tech Sights. I updated my and my Dad's 10/22's to the "Liberty Training Rifle" aka Appleseed style configuration. Tech Sights, GI sling, extended mag release. Works great.
But I did that while Dad was around, and he could choot it. In this case, I would say leave it as is, and shoot it, as long as the folding stock and barrel are in fact legal in Ca. The scope is ok, and already "camo'd". If he wants something different, go get a basic 10/22 and modify to his hearts delight. Keep Dads rifle, Dads rifle. |

Sorry about your Pops man.
Honor him and enjoy it just the way it is. He put his hands on it during customization….it’s him, if you know what I mean.

![]() The receiver is clearly a standard 10/22…you can drop in just about any after market stock. The Ruger 10/22 has a lot of after market support. If you want to save money and get a quality stock, you could probably find a pre-owned, never used at the range OEM stock. As many people upgrade their stock to something aftermarket and are left with the OEM. I have an OEM take down stock that I’d like to sell. If you want it. LMK. But I’m not sure if it will work with the standard 10/22 receiver and barrel. I’m sure someone can chime in on that.

Maybe not a possibility, but any chance the original stock might still be stashed somewhere?
I only have one Rifle from my Dad, and it is actually a piece of crap Remington Viper..Not Remingtons brightest moment for sure..But mine has a very interesting, Macabre story behind it.. A Drunken Friend who claimed he was going Coon Hinting with it borrowed it from him...... Maybe he did go Coon Hunting, but he died that night.. He went out to his on and off Girlfriends house around 2 in the morning..He walked in, she came out of the Bedroom..He point the Viper at Her and attempted to fire..It either misfired or maybe he did not load it..She ducked into the Bedroom and grabbed Her .357..Well that was the end of Kevins Coon hunt and his life.. It was at the Sheriffs Dept for about 15 years...I was always going to take him up to get it..But never did..He passed about 5 years ago and I as the Executor of his estate was able to get it back..Deputy who signed it out to me said, sorry I cannot find the Magazine..My thought was maybe that was Kevin's screw up..He forgot to put the Mag in it.. 10-22s are the most customized 22 rifles on the planet---I'm glad you're gonna keep it as you dad (RIP) modified it. Enjoy it---they're much fun... Remember your dad every time you take it out to shoot!

OP should take that rifle out to shoot as often as he can. That's Dad's rifle. It deserves to be properly honored by using it.

It's horrible. I added a BX trigger and it helped somewhat, but yeah, that's the trade off with a bull pup kit or any kit that uses a trigger bar. I'll add that the HTA 90/22 is pure fun factor at an indoor range. It is still the most fun gun to shoot in my collection. It's not a precision shooter by any means compared to some of the builds on here.
