Do they just not make the 10/25 mags anymore?

I thought the regular MP5 stock didn't fit the 22 version, but I could be wrong there. I will look into it more, thanks.

Last I checked you needed to dremel the standard fixed stock to get it to fit the MP5 22lr, so may not be worthwhile

Yes, especially when a standard MP5 stock is almost $200. They used to do a stock for the 22 version that was around $50 that fit correctly. I might wait a few months and see if they do that again, I can't be the only one who prefers an A2 stock.

If I were in a free state, I would get the pistol version, and A2 stock, and a stamp to assemble them. One day.....

The A2 stocks that H&K used to sell for the MP5/22 were modified Umarex MP5 airsoft A2 stocks.

Here you go. I posted this 4 years ago.

Granted that they don't change the design on the new MP5/22.

Thank you!

I got mine out of the klink yesterday, and just got back from the first range trip. This little rifle is awesome. It ate the Rem Golden Bullets I tested it with with no hiccups. Sights were at point of aim out of the box. Trigger is nice and wide. Mags are a little tight so they don't drop free, but that give you a good excuse to use the paddle mag release.

I'm going to need more mags, but this is going to be my primary rifle for 2 gun rimfire matches now.

These are HK licensed and made by Umarex, so not HK. Still fun to shoot but mags are $60 each....

Not Hk, but still made in Germany.

And most places have the new model mags priced at ~$30 - $35, though still waiting for stock.

I went to the range again yesterday with the MP5, shared with a few others and they all liked it. Now I really need some spare magazines so I can use it in 2 gun rimfire matches.

Get one, it's so much fun.

They had a couple more in stock at least - so anyone interested and local, don't wait! But if you want to wait, you may be able to get it at Sportsmans cheaper, if and when they finally get any.

PS - the models they had came with the long (25rd looking) 10-rd mags
I was able to grab one last week at Turner's Outdoorsman while picking up ammo for a range trip, definitely can't wait to bring it home soon!

Picked one up last week at Coyote Point Armory, was $485 + tax. I was doing a PPT there and had been looking for the old one and saw it on the wall and didn’t know they were back out! Happy find!

I tried to resist and let one go on the first wave. Restock came in and then I held it and the HK gods sang their song, "buy me you peasant stop being a poor" lol. Fairly heavy for a 22 but wanted the son to have an SP5 of his own.

For those that can, the MP5 Pistol (22LR) is in stock at Sportsmans right now and has been for days.

There is no need to rush people, they will come in stock, HK didn't make just one. Don't be the equivalent of someone standing in line at an Apple Store just so you can get an iPhone before everyone else. It won't matter.

I guess the fake can on the barrel is just there for looks, or does it have a function? Wonder what the gun looks like when it is removed, does it change balance for the worst? Has anyone tried one with a real suppressor, wonder how that works from a balance/performance standpoint. Too much time on my hands this morning I guess. Thanks.

It is there to cover the barrel. The barrel has to be 16" long so this does not become a SBR. You could not replace the fake can with a real can without extraordinary work to make it an integral suppressor, or extraordinary work to convert it to SBR and then mount a conventional suppressor.

Taking faux suppressor off makes the rifle look real goofy, I’m leaving mine on even if serves no purpose.

When these first where produced, was there not a recall? They had to fix the barrel shroud? Memory poor. This was 15 years or so ago.
GSG-5 SD model was 10 years ago.

The GSG had a recall maybe 10 to 12 or so years ago for the barrel shroud because ATF said it actually suppressed some noise. That is the only recall I am aware of.

I brought mine home recently. I like it, feels solid - not like a toy or airsoft gun.

I would guess the pistol barrel could be fit in place of the rifle barrel, but if we lived in a state where that were allowed, I would just start with the pistol version and SBR that.

Yes! And I am sure there will be some folks who will, even though it is 22. Or they will run arm braces until Dementia Joe decrees them verboten

I loved how solid it felt when I first picked it up, I would have bought it anyway but I definitely felt confident in my purchase when I was able to handle the gun.

I thought the barrel is threaded and the fake can is screwed on. Not so?

Now that I think about it, the gun would look awkward anyway, and defeat the whole purpose of looking like a MP5.

Thanks!

The barrel extends all the way through the can. The can is a shroud. The can is removable I believe, as there is a tool (wrench) included that looks made for the job. It is likely threaded on.

However, the manual does not include information about removing it nor even give a schematic drawing, so this is all speculation until someone who knows more comes along. I have no plans to take mine apart anytime soon...
