I shoot in a weekly .22 match at a local range. It alternates 50 and 100 yards each week. Right now, I alternate using a Remington 40X and a Winchester 52D on the weeks that we shoot 100 yards. Both do pretty well at that distance.
I'm trying to entice my oldest son to join the match with me and I recently glommed another Winchester 52D for him as an incentive... ![]() ![]()

I got my start in smallbore competition by using a club owned Winchester 52 and then I bought one for myself. Both of those rifles were tac drivers. I switched to Anschutz rifles, but have great memories of my Winchester 52.
Where are you shooting the competition that you mentioned?

Yep, I've got several Redfields...Palma, International, and Olympic. But the match we shoot is off a Bench, so I'll be mounting a scope on this one, at least at first. I've got a Sightron SII 36x42 not currently employed that I'm planning on using. My current 52D has a B&L 6-24 on it, mounted on a Ken Vianni rail. I've also got a 52B set up for the 50 yard matches. ![]()

I shoot a 40X at our little club's ARA rimfire benchrest matches. I have a Weaver T-36 and a Jewell trigger on it. A Harrell tuner, too.
Those Win 52Ds are good shooters. Last edited by Calif Hunter; 01-08-2023 at 8:22 PM.. |

I've heard the 52D triggers aren't bad (although certainly not as good as a Kenyon). My 52B has a Canjar trigger, which is supposed to be good.

I've got one with a 36X B&L, a Timney trigger and an Ezell tuner. I alternate that one with my 52D at the 100 yard matches. They seem to shoot pretty close to the same. ![]() Winchester 52D...10 rounds @ 100y....945" ![]() Remington 40X... ![]()

The cooling off period on my new Win52D expired and I picked it and my new Ljungman up.
I checked the bolt and it is EP'd with a matching number to the serial number. Metal and stock are in excellent condition. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Is EP'ing the bolt a US property only mark?

I think you should just sell it to me.

Not planning on selling it, but if I can't entice my son into shooting it at the match, I'll keep you in mind
