Still room for another? I'll make the drive from Angeles' doorstep to shoot my 7.62x54r surplus. I just did some work on my PSL and I need to verify function, plus I need to zero my scope. I'll also probably grab a Mosin to play with.

I joined last weekend, didn't get a chance to shoot because the fire started right as I was filling out my membership paperwork

Updated the list with my new status. I think since most of the people going are members we should be able to take a few more people as guests. Definitely come out, I'll take you as a guest if anyone checks

8 am opens, we start as soon as everybody gets their. this will be a low key fun shoot. lets see how many times you can hit the gong at 100 yards. everybody shares and we all will have fun. if you see a rifle you want to shoot just ask.
baboosh is cooking so donate towards the cost of the food. i tend to go home early but i am going to try and stay longer and enjoy myself.
do not worry about not being a member, plenty of us to have you as a guest. i hope some new faces show up . 10 bucks and you are in. bring whatever you want to shoot.

Gates open: 8am
Casual steel challenge: 9:30am
Lunch: 12pm

That's about all that is scheduled.

Please note you can bring whatever you want to shoot. Competition is C&R only but besides that shoot anything and everything.

Hrm... I will be picking up a spam can tomorrow..and my newly acquired mosin has yet to see a firing range under my ownership....

And seeing as Baboosh may bring the M2 out, I will make sure I attend provided there is space, as I am not a member of WEGC.

Good point John.

Match will start at 9am but I suggest everyone get there early if you want a table by the rest of us. We'll be setting up at the far right of the range.

Default just do it

OK Sunday is almost here, we had such a good time last time. i am sure we will out do the last shoot. if you are on the fence about coming just do it. you do not need to be a super social person if you are uncomfortable around strangers do not worry. nobody is going to judge what you shoot or how good you shoot [ except our little gong competition ] that is not what this is about.even if you do not own a old military rifle but are thinking of getting one come out. honestly total strangers will let you shoot their rifle . we have one thing in common our love of these old war horses.i had so much fun last time. for 10 dollars you can look at and shoot almost every C&R ever made. if i did not shoot i would still enjoy seeing all these nice rifles being used for what they were designed for.

I want to cut out and keep the top lid (with the markings) in good condition from the next can I open. Any idea on how to open one of these cans from the bottom? I've heard of people using a dremel, but I don't feel comfortable doing that with live ammo inside

At the last shoot 2 of my 3 nagants were waaaaay off target. Couldn't even hit paper at 100 yards. The third was a bit better

Does anyone have a front sight adjustment tool they could bring and show me how to use it? I'd be very grateful

Has anyone tried one of the Laser Boresighter fake cartridges? They have very mixed reviews. I was looking at this one from amazon:http://www.amazon.com/7-62x54R-Alumi.../dp/B005E4KUDY

Judging from the last shoot I think we are the wrong group to ask about sighting in Mosins haha.

Cool, that cuts down on the amount of junk to throw in the truck!

I planned on bringing my AR pistol to compare it to yours, but i decided to tear it down the other day and get the lower off to anodizing (80%er). The two tone raw/black look of the gun was driving me nuts and I could not find an anodizer who would do the color I wanted for less than an arm and 3 legs, type 3 black it is!

I just found this thread today. I am a WEGC full member, joined in January of this year.

Have you guys considered using the 200 yard rifle pad?
IDPA is supposed to use bays 1,2,3, and 6. That leaves the rifle range open. We would just have to get there early and claim it. As far as I know, we are allowed to use it as long as the competitions are not using it. I believe it has priority over bays 7-11. I have used it quite a few times on the weekend and the range is usually quiet when it is this hot.

What qualifies for C&R? Over 50 years old? I have a Winchester 54 30-06 from 1926 and a Winchester 30-30 lever action from the early 70's. I am better with the 30-06, but not exceptional. It has peep sights. I need to find screws for the little scope that goes with it. I have an M1 carbine as well, but have only shot it one time.

I have AR 500 plates and stands. I have one mount that will hang on the "T" posts on the 200 yard range and I have 4 steel stands that can be nailed into the ground. The plates I have are: 2-6" circles, 2-8" circles, and 1-12" circle. They are all 1/2" thick. They work for standard 223 and 460 Mag at 50 yards and I run up to 30-06 at 100 yards. The uprights on my stands are rebar, so it isn't the end of the world if they get accidentally nicked, but the bases are steel tube and I DON'T want them to get trashed.

I have also never shot on the main range. Do full members have to pay to shoot there, or just guests and partial members?

I would bring the 460 revolver, my Ruger MkIII Hunter 6 7/8" and my tricked out competition XD as well. I also have a sleek, light weight, ar 15 featureless that I use for 3 gun.

Chris
